This matchup features a fascinating clash of strengths. The Red Bulls have been one of the best home teams in all of Major League Soccer this season, posting a dominant 7-1-2 record at Red Bull Arena. However, they are winless in their last five matches overall.
The Revolution, meanwhile, have been one of the league’s better road teams with a 4-3-5 record away from home. But they are in their own deep slump, winless in their last six matches overall (0-4-2).
A Tale of Two Attacks
The Red Bulls’ offense has been a two-man show this season. Stars Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting (11 goals) and Emil Forsberg (7 goals) have carried the load, but the rest of the roster has combined for just 15 goals. The team is looking for more contributions from their supporting cast.
The Revolution’s focus has been on defense. After leaking 10 goals in four games, they posted a much-needed 0-0 draw on Saturday for their eighth clean sheet of the season. “I have very high standards for myself,” said goalkeeper Aljaz Ivacic. “So I feel like I didn’t make saves, or I didn’t help the team the way I know I can (in the previous games).”
