MLB Home Run Props Picks for Thursday, August 4th 2022

Aaron Judge and Kyle Schwarber continue to pound out long balls by the bunches. Judge leads MLB with 43 dingers, 10 more than the Phillies slugger.

Houston’s Yordan Alvarez (30) is the only other MLB player with at least 30 home runs. Judge has hit five homers in the last seven days, but he won’t hit one today. The Yankees are off before beginning a weekend series at St. Louis.

Schwarber and his Phillies will be in action. Will he come through with another long ball? Here are the best MLB home run props picks for Thursday, August 4th 2022.

Marcus Semien – OVER 0.5 HRs (+390)

White Sox vs. Rangers Prediction

The Rangers have an implied run total of 4.45 tonight when they face Jordan Lyles and the White Sox tonight. Marcus Semien, who started 2022 rather slowly, now has 15 home runs after hitting one last night against Baltimore.

Lyles tends to struggle against right-handed hitters. This year against righties, he has allowed 0.69 HR/9. Last season, that number was 2.00 HR/9 and his career number is 1.29 HR/9.

Semien has two home runs over the last seven days and has hit safely in six of the last seven games. He’s seeing the ball well and will continue to improve. Remember, he hit over 40 homers last season.

MLB Odds

Kyle Schwarber – OVER 0.5 HRs (+160)

Nationals vs. Phillies Prediction

Schwarber is an absolute beast. He has 33 homers for the season along with a .495 slugging percentage. Tonight, Schwarber goes up against Washington right-hander Paolo Espino.

Schwarber carries a 134 wRC+ and a .552 slugging percentage against right-handed pitchers. More importantly, 25 of his 33 home runs have come against right-handers. Plus, the Phillies slugger has hit 22 dingers since June 1.

In six at-bats against Espino, Schwarber has hit two home runs.

Rafael Devers – OVER 0.5 HRs (+400)

Red Sox vs. Royals Prediction

Devers is Boston’s best hitter and he’ll go up against Kansas City pitcher Kris Bubic. Bubic is 2-6 with a 5.45 ERA for the season. He’s given up 12 home runs in 2022.

Five of those 12 homers have come in Bubic’s last five starts. That includes his last start when he gave up two home runs to the Yankees. The Boston lineup is just as talented as New York’s and Devers is the best of them.

Devers has 23 homers for the season though he has just one over the last seven games. Thirteen of Devers’ home runs have come on the road.

MLB Picks

Yordan Alvarez – OVER 0.5 HRs (+205)

Astros vs. Guardians Prediction

As mentioned, Alvarez is one of just three MLB players with at least 30 homers. Alvarez will go up against Cleveland’s Zach Plesac who has allowed 14 home runs this season in 19 starts.

Alvarez has not homered in his last five games and he’s due. Plesac gave up two dingers in his last start against Tampa Bay. Alvarez is hitting .303 and has the top OPS (1.063) in MLB.
