MLB Home Run Props Picks for Thursday, June 23rd 2022

Home runs were down in 2022 – they still are – but from mid-May to mid-June that changed. Slugging percentage was .375 prior to May 14.

Over the next month, that number jumped to .410. Home runs ticked upward but are still behind the pace of 2019 when hitters blasted 1.39 homers per game.

Aaron Judge still leads the majors with 27 homers. Mike Trout and Yordan Alvarez of Houston are next with 21. Alvarez’s Astros begin a series with Judge’s Yankees tonight. Will either player hit a home run tonight?

Here are the top MLB home run props picks for Thursday, June 23rd 2022.

Yordan Alvarez – OVER 0.5 HR (+280)

As mentioned, Alvarez is tied for second in the majors with 21 home runs this season. Tonight, he and the Astros go up against Jameson Taillon and the Yankees.

Taillon has only given up six home runs this season, but he hasn’t pitched more than six innings in any of his last three starts. That would give Alvarez a shot at a number of the Yankees relievers but not closer Clay Holmes.

Alvarez is 6-for-18 in his last five games. Four of those hits are home runs. He hit three over the last two days in a two-game series with the Mets. He is seeing the ball extremely well and Taillon is due for some regression.

MLB Odds

Anthony Santander – OVER 0.5 HRs (+310)

Orioles vs. White Sox Predictions

Santander leads the Orioles in home runs with 13 so far this season. Over his last four games, Santander has been hitting the ball. He is 6-for-15 with two home runs.

Santander hit a dinger yesterday in the Orioles 7-0 win over Washington. Tonight, he will face White Sox starter Johnny Cueto for the first time.

The White Sox home, Guaranteed Rate Field, is No. 3 in the majors for home runs allowed. With the way Santander has been hitting lately, look for him to go deep again.

MLB Picks

Jake Cronenworth – OVER 0.5 HRs (+850)

Phillies vs. Padres Predictions

Cronenworth isn’t a big home run hitter. He has only seven homers so far this season, but he has been hitting the ball well lately.

Over the last seven days, Cronenworth is 8-for-27 with four extra-base hits. One of those was a home run against Arizona on Monday.

Philadelphia pitcher Ranger Suarez has given up seven home runs this season. Petco Park ranks among the top ballparks in the majors in terms of homers. The Padres home has the third-smallest dimensions of all MLB parks.
