Head-to-head matchups are very straightforward when compared to other wagering options, as the choices are narrowed down to only two drivers. Here’s our guide for wagering on head-to-head matchups for the NASCAR Cup Series.

NASCAR Head-to-Head Matchup Bets Explained

The NASCAR driver who finishes ahead of the other driver or completes the most number of laps is the winner of the bet, but both drivers must start for wagers to count. If one driver fails to complete the race, the other driver will be declared the winner. If both drivers fail to complete the race, the number of full laps completed will determine the results of the bet (driver that finished the most laps will win). Otherwise, the results will be determined by the official NASCAR result. Both drivers must start the race (e.g. cross the start line) for matchup bets to be action. If any driver is replaced before the start of the race then all matchup bets with that driver will be void.

For many racing fans, NASCAR head-to-head betting is considered one of the best ways to get started when it comes to betting on the NASCAR Cup Series, NASCAR Xfinity Series and NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series. Instead of worrying about selecting drivers from a field of 38-40 drivers to win a race – you only have to look at two drivers and pick the one you think will finish ahead of the other driver. That means you simply need to predict which driver will finish higher out of two. Your choice could finish 15th and payoff provided the other driver finishes 16th or worse.

Here’s an example of what a NASCAR head-to-head wager looks like:

Ryan Blaney -130

Kyle Busch +100

Depending on the race venue, field of drivers and the sportsbooks you bet with, the number of head-to-head matchups will vary from week to week during the NASCAR season. It’s recommended to have accounts with multiple bookies so that you have access to more NASCAR head-to-head match-up bets.

Tips for Winning NASCAR Head-to-Head Matchup Bets

NASCAR bettors have a 50% of chance of picking a winner on this market. It’s a lot easier than trying to pick the winner of a NASCAR race. However, you still need to do your research. You want to make sure you have a reason for placing a bet on a driver to perform better than another driver.

You want to look at track performance first. Some drivers perform well every year on certain track types or at certain venues and you’ll want to try and target them in matchups against drivers that struggle at that track. You should also look at recent performances to see how each driver has performed recently.
