NFL Week 9 Underdog Picks on the Moneyline

The Dallas Cowboys are a huge home underdog to the 7-0 Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 9. While Coach Rick realizes the Steelers are primed for an upset after a big win over Baltimore last week, he’s also a realist.

The Cowboys aren’t beating Pittsburgh with Guido Sarducci or Ben DiNucci or whatever Ucci is playing quarterback for Dallas this week.

Minus that game, there are some interesting underdogs available on the moneyline in Week 9. Here’s a look at the best plays.

Las Vegas Raiders vs. Los Angeles Chargers Picks

The Chargers suffered another meltdown last week and lost on the game’s final play to Denver. Now, L.A. gets another AFC West opponent in the Raiders.

The Chargers are favored at home as they were last year when they faced the Raiders. This year, the line is not as big as Las Vegas is 4-3 and coming off a 16-6 win over Cleveland.

A year ago, the Chargers were 7.5-point favorites over the Raiders at home. Los Angeles lost 24-17. Surprisingly, the Chargers have actually held leads over Kansas City, Tampa Bay, and the Saints only to lose all three games.

The Chargers have just two wins and they are against Cincinnati (2-5-1) and Jacksonville (1-7). Coach Rick likes the ground game of the Raiders and a punishing defense to get the upset.

Best Moneyline Pick: OAKLAND RAIDERS +105

Denver Broncos vs. Atlanta Falcons Picks

Coach Rick goes out on a little bit of a limb here and likes the Broncos to go to Atlanta and pull off the upset. Here’s why.

The Falcons are just a bad football team and they are only 2-9 straight up in their last 11 games at Mercedes-Benz Stadium. If you can’t win at home, where can you win?

So, there’s all this talk of an Atlanta turnaround. Remember last year, the Falcons started 1-7 and then won six of the last eight games.

That’s great and all, but Atlanta’s two wins in three games are over Minnesota and Carolina neither of which has a winning record.

Denver typically starts slow and finishes strong as it did last week beating the Chargers on a last-play touchdown pass from QB Drew Lock to WR K.J. Hamler. That momentum could lift the Broncos to salvaging their 2020 season.

Coach Rick likes the Broncos at +174 to pull the road upset.

Best Moneyline Pick: DENVER BRONCOS +174

New Orleans Saints vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers Picks

It’s a showdown for the NFC South title as the Saints head to Tampa Bay. New Orleans has won the last five straight against the Bucs including this year’s season opener.

There’s a chance that WR Michael Thomas will play on Sunday. Even so, RB Alvin Kamara is picking up the slack in a big way. New Orleans still scores almost 30 points a game even without Thomas who hasn’t played since Week 1.

Tampa Bay struggled last week against the 1-7 New York Giants though that game was on the road in prime time. Playing at home and having WR Antonio Brown available will be a boost for the Bucs offense.

Still, New Orleans has won four straight, five straight over Tampa Bay, and wants to win a fourth straight NFC South crown.

Best Moneyline Pick: NEW ORLEANS SAINTS +205
