Now that the calendar has flipped to March, much of the betting focus will be on the sport of college basketball. Simply focusing on college basketball is the wrong strategy, though, as NHL betting action is heating up as well.

If you are going to make a moneyline NHL bet on Saturday, then it would be wise to bet on an underdog. There are a couple of solid options, but taking the Columbus Blue Jackets +160 is the best bet.
Columbus is set to host the Boston Bruins, and the visitors have not been as dominant this season. The Blue Jackets are scoring 3.25 goals per game this season, and that offense is going to give the Bruins some trouble.
Playing at home gives the Blue Jackets a big advantage as well, and they pull off this slight upset on home ice.
Puck Line: Edmonton Oilers -1.5
Canadiens vs. Oilers Prediction
If you are looking for a potential blowout, then look no further than the matchup set to take place in Edmonton as the Oilers host the Montreal Canadiens. It’s hard to believe what has happened to Montreal, but they have been one of the worst teams in the NHL this season.
The Canadiens have won four of their last five games, but this team is still giving up over 3.8 goals per game. Edmonton is a team that can score goals in a hurry as they are averaging 3.25 goals per game.
Montreal might be able to keep this game close for a while, but they can’t keep up for 60 minutes. Take the Oilers -1.5 as they win this game by two goals at least.
Total Bet: Kraken / Capitals Under 6
Kraken vs. Capitals Prediction
The Washington Capitals host the Seattle Kraken, and the home team is a pretty big favorite in this one. This is not a game in which you want to even think about the moneyline, but looking at the betting total does present a solid option.
Both teams have had some trouble on defense this season, and Washington could really take advantage on offense. Seattle has struggled in all facets of the game, and don’t expect to see the Kraken doing much scoring in this one.
Washington will score at least three goals, but the Kraken aren’t going to do much scoring. Take the under six goals as the teams might struggle to get to just five.

Instead of just making a single-game wager, putting together a parlay can lead to an even bigger win when betting on the NHL. Even though we have already focused on three other games, there are still some solid betting opportunities out there.
The Colorado Avalanche host the Calgary Flames in what should be one of the best games of the entire day. Both teams can really score, and this should be an exciting game to watch.
Nashville is on the road in San Jose, but the Predators are still pretty solid favorites. These teams look to be pretty even in the total stats, but Nashville is having a better season.
