2025 Nathans Hot Dog Contest Odds, Predictions and How To Watch

Last Updated on

The Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest is back again this week, ready to celebrate the Fourth of July with an ageless classic – stuffing one’s face with pounds of hot dog.

Last year’s competition crowned a new winner thanks to contract issues with the legendary Joey Chestnut. Who are we kidding here? The MLE got their feelings hurt when Chestnut signed a sponsorship with a rival hot dog brand.

Nevertheless, the Michael Jordan of competitive eating is back after his one-year hiatus, which makes the 2025 Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest must-see television once again.

So, will Chestnut take back what is rightfully his? Will a new women’s champion stand tall? And are there other ways for entertainment betting enthusiasts to profit off of this digestive carnage?

Let’s lather up our ballpark franks and buns with some ketchup as we take a look at the latest Hot Dog Contest odds and make our 2025 Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest predictions.

There are some pretty good Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest odds available to us. You’re not winning much from betting on the likely champions – Chestnut and Sudo – but luckily there are other wagers to take advantage of.

You can bet on how many hot dogs Joey Chestnut will shove down his gullet, among other things. I actually love this bet (and the Over), just because he historically pushes the envelope and I am willing to bet he’s eager to make up for lost time in an emphatic return.

Other Nathan’s Hot Dog prop bets are even more alluring, with four more wagers set with -150 moneylines or better. There are precious few screaming values for this event, but if you want to roll out some YOLO bets, you could always bet on a sleeper pick to upset Chestnut or Sudo.

Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest Men’s Predictions

Check out our analysis for the Men’s 2025 Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest:

Men’s Hot Dog Contest Winner

  • Joey Chestnut (-3000)
  • Patrick Bertoletti (+800)
  • James Webb (+1000)
  • Geoffrey Esper (+1400)
  • Nick Wehry (+4000)
  • Derek Hendrickson (+6000)

Joey Chestnut is back and I fully expect him to come in with the goal to dominate. The last time we saw him he ate a respectable 62 hot dogs, but we know he’s capable of a lot more than that.

More importantly, of course, Chestnut owns this competition, regardless of how many hot dogs he can swallow. He’d won eight titles in a row before being told to stay home in 2024, and he won eight in a row prior to a Matt Stonie upset in 2015, too.

Last year’s winner – Patrick Betoletti – is a viable threat and at +800 has odds worth considering. I suppose James Webb (3rd) is also in play, while Geoffrey Esper and Nick Wehry are veterans that could always surprise.

However, when these guys had the stage all to themselves, their max count of eaten hot dogs was Bertoletti’s 58, which would have come second to Chestnut in all but one of his many wins.

An upset seems extremely unlikely. I think you can still take a small swing at an upset, but this is probably just a bet best left avoided.

Bet: Joey Chestnut (-3000)

Joey Chestnut Total Number Of Hot Dogs Consumed

  • Over 71.5 (-175)
  • Under 71.5 (+130)

I don’t have much interest in betting on who will win the Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest, but I do want to wager on how many hot dogs Joey Chestnut will eat. His over/under is set at 71.5, which seems fair considering he has topped 70 eaten dogs six different times in this event.

Chestnut did regress to “just” 62 in 2023, but he’s surpassed this total four times and ate an astonishing 76 franks as recently as 2021.

The greatest man to have ever been associated with a frank, other than Frank Sinatra, Chestnut has already hinted out going for a world record and trying to get up towards 80 hot dogs consumed.

Given his time away and the insane anticipation, I am all for betting on the narrative that Chestnut is going to show out in a resounding comeback win. I am hammering the Over here.

Bet: Over 71.5 (-175)

Patrick Bertoletti Total Number Of Hot Dogs Consumed

  • Over 50.5 (-130)
  • Under 50.5 (-110)

I’m not as confident in someone like Patrick Bertoletti, for two reasons. First, Chestnut is back, so there is going to be immense pressure and it’s possible the reigning champ changes his game to account for the curveball. Secondly, and just as important, Bertoletti is not a trusted and proven commodity like Chestnut is.

Bertoletti proved he can hang with the big boys, and he has actually topped 50+ eaten hot dogs three times in his career. He has admittedly had some epic lows in this competition, and his infrequent activity (10-year hiatus) combined with his age (40) makes him a tough person to trust.

That said, he’s probably Chestnut’s main competition this year, and after last year’s solid showing, I like his chances to hit the Over.

Bet: Over 50.5 (-130)

James Webb Total Number Of Hot Dogs Consumed

  • Over 50.5 (-130)
  • Under 50.5 (-110)

I think Bertoletti can just sneak past the Over this year, but I don’t think I’ll be rolling the dice on James Webb to do the same. He did raise his game last year (52 hot dogs), but that represents a career-high.

The 36-year old has a long list of accomplishments in the world of competitive eating, but he hasn’t shown the consistent production to feel good about hammering the Over here.

The price is a little more appealing for the Under, too.

Bet: Under 50.5 (-110)

Will James Webb Reach Top 3

  • Yes (-150)
  • No (NA)

There aren’t current Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest odds for the “no” side of this James Webb wager, but that is where I’d put my money.

Webb was inside the top three a year ago, but that was with one of his best ever hot dog consumption performances. He also benefited from Joey Chestnut not competing. With Chestnut back, I’m willing to bet on Webb’s overall track record, which suggests he may regress to the mean in 2025.

Bet: No (NA)

Will There Be A Reversal Of Fortune In The Men’s Contest?

  • Yes (+400)
  • No (NA)

The people vying for the 2025 Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest crown are all professional competitive eaters, so they do a good job of keeping their food down. I can’t say the same for those in attendance with weak stomachs.

Few will forget when one of the lemonade drinkers projectile vomited last year during a competition, so never say never. It’s always possible, but I’d want better odds if I were going to ride the vomit train.

Bet: No (N/A)

Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest Women’s Predictions

Check out our analysis for the Women’s 2025 Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest:

Women’s Hot Dog Contest Winner

  • Miki Sudo (-2500)
  • Michelle Lesco (+1500)
  • Domenica Dee (+1500)
  • Tandra Childress (+2800)
  • Katie Prettyman (+3300)
  • Larell Marie Mele (+5000)
  • Isabeau Prettyman (+6000)

Much like Joey Chestnut has owned the men’s side of the Hot Dog Contest, Miki Sudo is consistently the woman to beat when it comes to the ladies. Sudo was once again crowned champion in 2024, when she consumed 51 hot dogs to win the female title.

Sudo’s 2024 run was good for a women’s world record in the Nathan’s competition, and it also marked her third win in a row. She had a hiatus in 2021 to give birth, but has now secured the bag in 10 of the last 11 competitions.

Naturally, her Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest betting odds are an absurd -2500. Just like with Chestnut, I am not laying cash for this bet. I’m also not super interested in betting on an upset, however. I will, however, lay money on a bet that I get an upset stomach after eating five hot dogs in 10 minutes.

Michelle Lesco is the only woman other than Sudo to win this thing in the past decade, and the only time she won was when Sudo wasn’t on hand to defend her title. Lesco would likely be your best bet if someone were to trip Sudo up, while Larell Marie Mele and her +5000 price tag are mildly appealing after finishing 4th in 2024.

That said, Sudo is going to win again, so this bet has no value. Well, it certainly has entertainment value as all of you carnivores love watching this digestive destruction. However, there’s no betting value. You can find better options to wager on below.

Bet: Miki Sudo (-2500)

Miki Sudo Total Number Of Hot Dogs Consumed

  • Over 47.5 (-120)
  • Under 47.5 (-120)

Sudo is going to win again in 2025, but I don’t love the idea of betting on her to eat 48 hot dogs. One could definitely point to her world record 51 hot dogs eaten a year ago, but she typically doesn’t come close to that. Let’s take a look at her previous consumed hot dogs:

  • 2024: 51
  • 2023: 39.5
  • 2022: 40
  • 2020: 48.5
  • 2019: 31
  • 2018: 37
  • 2017: 41
  • 2016: 38.5
  • 2015: 38
  • 2014: 34

Over the last three years, Sudo has eaten more than 43 hot dogs just one time. And despite dominating her competition over the last 11 years, she’s managed to hit 48+ hot dogs just two different times.

It’s possible Sudo pushes the envelope and comes back with another epic performance, but history is suggesting something closer to 40-45 downed dogs would be the best we should hope for.

Bet: Under 47.5 (-120)

Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest Matchup

  • Nick Wehry (-190)
  • Miki Sudo (+140)

The interesting thing about this prop bet is the fact that these two are the power couple of competitive eating. The married couple met in 2018 before an eating competition, and have been together ever since. They also have plans of raising an army of competitive eaters to dethrone Joey Chestnut once and for all. Ok, I made the last part up. Now, on to the analysis.

Wehry isn’t even necessarily a lock to do that, but if we look back on history, even the male losers tend to do better than the woman who wins. Look at last year, when Sudo set the new women’s record with 51 hot dogs, but still didn’t beat the 2nd and 3rd place male finishers.

I think she’s a good value here at +140 since Wehry only had 46 last year and if she keeps her 2024 pace, she has a shot. However, I think she regresses a bit, as she historically does not polish off that much volume.

Bet: Nick Wehry (-190)

Will There Be A Reversal Of Fortune In The Women’s Contest?

  • Yes (+500)
  • No (NA)

You can bet on a woman competitor vomiting just like you can for the men’s side. Of course, vomiting during the competition can lead to disqualification, so everyone tends to be prepared to avoid it.

In addition, competitor’s tend to empty their stomachs and avoid eating before a big competition like this – plus the event only lasts 10 minutes. That said, you get a slightly better price if you bet on a female upchucking this July 4th.

The odds are appealing enough, but it doesn’t happen consistently enough to feel great about betting on it. I think the better prop bet would be Over/Under whether or not viewers have a reversal of fortune at home as they try to down two hotdogs and buns in 10 minutes.

Bet: No (N/A)
