French Open Betting Guide: 2027 Dates and Clay Tips
To bet on the French Open, pick a market (the match moneyline, the set spread, total games or the outright winner) and price it for clay, the slowest surface of the Grand Slam year. Roland Garros lists the 2027 tournament for May 17 to June 6 in Paris, and the singles champions it will be defending are Alexander Zverev and Mirra Andreeva.
The 2027 dates and the 2026 finals
The official Roland Garros site gives the 2027 window as May 17 to June 6. In 2026 the men’s final was on Sunday, June 7.
| 2026 final | Date | Result |
|---|---|---|
| Women’s singles | June 6 | Mirra Andreeva d. Maja Chwalinska 6-3, 6-2 |
| Men’s singles | June 7 | Alexander Zverev d. Flavio Cobolli 6-1, 4-6, 6-4, 6-7, 6-1 |
Chwalinska came through qualifying. She beat Suzan Lamens 7-6, 7-5 in the last qualifying round on May 21 and then won six main-draw matches to reach the final. Andreeva ended it in 17 games. The men’s final went the distance: 47 games over five sets, with Zverev losing the second and the fourth before taking the fifth 6-1.
Our men’s French Open odds and women’s French Open odds pages hold the full 2026 record, and they will carry the 2027 boards when prices are posted.
The bets you can make at Roland Garros
Every match has two outcomes and no draw, so the markets are built around who wins and by how much. Our guide to how betting odds work covers the conversion from a price to a payout.
- Moneyline: who wins the match. Our moneyline guide walks through the math.
- Set spread: the margin in sets, usually -1.5 or +1.5.
- Total games: over or under a line on every game played in the match.
- Game handicap: a head start in games for the underdog, such as +4.5.
- Props: a tiebreak in the first set, the winner of the first set, or a retirement.
- Outright: the tournament winner, priced before the first ball.
The format changes what a spread means. Men’s singles is best of five sets, so -1.5 sets needs a 3-0 or 3-1 win. Zverev won the 2026 title 3-2, which means a Zverev -1.5 ticket on the final lost while his moneyline won. Women’s singles is best of three, so -1.5 needs a 2-0 win, and Andreeva’s 6-3, 6-2 covered it.
Why clay changes the price
Clay slows the ball and makes it bounce higher, so points run longer and a big serve wins fewer of them outright. That moves the edge toward the returner. Break chances come more often on clay than on grass, and a favorite who drops serve twice in a set is less rare in Paris than at Wimbledon.
Surface record beats overall ranking here. Zverev reached three of the four men’s Grand Slam finals in 2026 and won two of them: Roland Garros on clay in June and the US Open on hard courts in September. He lost the Wimbledon final to Jannik Sinner on grass. A player’s win rate on clay over the last two seasons is a better first filter than his ranking.
Totals follow the same logic. Longer rallies and more breaks tend to mean more games, and five-set men’s matches can run long: the 2026 men’s final alone had 47. A totals line on a best-of-five match between two strong returners deserves a look at the over.
The numbers worth checking
Four statistics tell you more about a clay-court match than a win-loss record.
- Second-serve points won: the share of points a player wins behind his second serve. A weak second serve against a strong returner is a common route to a break on clay.
- Break-point conversion: break points won divided by break-point chances on return. Six converted from 10 chances is 60%.
- Winner-to-unforced-error ratio: winners divided by unforced errors. Thirty winners and 25 unforced errors is a ratio of 1.2; above 1 means the player hits more winners than he gives away.
- Clay record: wins and losses on clay only, over the last two seasons.
Put the first two together. If one player wins a high share of his second-serve points and converts more of his break chances, he holds the edge in the games that decide sets, and that is the edge a set spread or a game handicap pays for. Our live betting guide covers how to use the same numbers once a match has started.
Futures on the 2027 French Open
We have no 2027 French Open price to show yet. When the outright boards open, read each price as a chance: +400 implies 20%, +1200 implies 7.7% and +2500 implies 3.8%. A futures bet is worth making only when you rate the player’s chance higher than the price does.
A title in Paris takes seven straight wins in a 128-player draw, and a futures ticket has to survive every one of them. If you hold one as the draw narrows, our hedge bet guide shows how to lock in part of the return.
