NASCAR: 2021 Drydene 400 Odds and Picks

The 2021 NASCAR Cup Series hits the one-mile asphalt surface at Dover International Speedway this Sunday for the Drydene 400. Last year the race weekend featured two Cup races in the effort to get the series schedule back on track. Kevin Harvick and Denny Hamlin were the winners.

So, it’s no surprise that those two drivers are among the favorites with Hamlin at +625 and Harvick coming in at +700. But, they are not the favorite driver to hold the honor of being the favorite to win outright. That goes to Martin Truex Jr. who has become a regular favorite this season. Truex comes in at +325.

So far this season Truex has three wins under his belt as well as eight top-ten finishes out of twelve races. He also has three prior wins at Dover on his resume with the last one coming in 2017.

All of the favorites listed below, Truex to Kyle Busch have won at Dover as recently as 2017. And All three manufactures have won at the track over the same time. Here are the favorite drivers to win the Drydene 400 outright according to Intertops.

2021 Drydene 400 Top Contenders

Martin Truex Jr +325

Kyle Larson +375

Denny Hamlin +625

Kevin Harvick +700

Chase Elliott +800

Kyle Busch +800

One side note, the track has the knick name of “the Monster Mile” because of the havoc that often happens during a race there.

2021 Drydene 400 Predictions

Kevin Harvick +700

Kevin Harvick has improved throughout the season and Dover is a track that he’s won on in the past including last season. Over his last ten races at the track, he’s won twice with seven top-ten and five top- five finishes and led 828 laps. His last three races this season have seen him finish 4th , 2nd , and 6th respectively.

Kyle Busch +800

Kyle Busch has a Dover win, 2018, and in his last five Cup Series starts at the Monster Mile he’s finished every race 11th or better. Busch has already logged a victory this season which was two weeks ago at Kansas. Last week he finished 3 rd at Darlington after recovering from an early spin. Busch has only two races where he finished worse than 25th this year.

Joey Logano +1200

Four of Joey Logano’s last five races at Dover have been 8th or better. His last run there resulted in a 6 th place finish several laps as the leader. In his last ten Dover starts, he’s never logged a DNF and his laps completion rate is 99.0%.

Others to Consider: It’s hard to win back-to-back in the Cup Series but Martin Truex Jr. could manage it. Truex leads the NASCAR fantasy stats list and has been hot… but the back-to-back thing scares me. Also, William Byron comes in at +1600 with a Homestead win under his belt this season. He finished 6th during the last Dover race.
