NBA ATS Picks for Sunday, May 16th

We’ve made it – the final day of the NBA regular season. Before we prep for the NBA play-in tournament, let’s finish strong with a few favorites to bet in the NBA on Sunday.

Best NBA Playoffs Betting Sites

At this point in the season, the preferred teams to bet on are those playing for final seeding. All of the below favorites have the motivation to win and should cover against the inferior team on the other end.

Miami Heat at Detroit Pistons Betting Preview

Heat vs. Pistons Picks

Best Bet: Heat -5

A Miami win over Detroit here would lock them into the 4 vs. 5 matchup, a far favorable spot to be in the Eastern Conference. The draw there would help to avoid two of the aforementioned Sixers, Nets, and Bucks until the Eastern Conference Finals.

The Heat have been playing inspired basketball, winning as much as anyone of late. They finish their season against one of the worst teams in basketball: the Detroit Pistons.

This is just another bet built on the back of one strong defense going against a weak offense. The Pistons’ bottom-five offense is going to seriously struggle against the Heat’s top-five defense.

Without the ability to put up points, stay away from Detroit in this one. With the stakes wildly different for the two teams, take the team with something to play for. Bet on Miami to cover.

Cleveland Cavaliers vs. Brooklyn Nets Betting Preview

Cavaliers vs. Nets Picks

Best Bet: Nets -14.5

Our final favorite of the Sunday slate is perfectly on theme. The disparity in the Eastern Conference is nothing new, but this year feels particularly distant.

These are two teams on wildly different spectrums. Brooklyn is getting healthier and owners of the best offense in the NBA.

Cleveland is mixing and matching lineups and owns one of the worst defenses in the league. There’s no one on the floor for the Cavaliers who can slow down Kevin Durant and James Harden.

Brooklyn is looking to clinch the second seed in the East. At the very least, they’d like to secure the second seed, which a win here would accomplish.

Bet on Brooklyn to finish strong against an inferior Cleveland team.

NBA Point Spread Picks

Memphis Grizzlies vs. Golden State Warriors Betting Preview

Grizzlies vs. Warriors Picks

Best Bet: Warriors -4

The Warriors and Grizzlies will finish their regular season with a game for the eighth seed in the West. In what could potentially be a preview of a play-in game, the Warriors have the edge on Sunday.

Memphis’ offensive preference is to get to the basket, but it’s what Golden State’s defense is best at stopping. The Warriors rank 11th at stopping shots near the basket.

On the other side, the Warriors rank third in the NBA in threes made per game. This strength perfectly aligns with the Grizzlies’ biggest vulnerability on defense: guarding the perimeter.

Steph Curry should be in for a monster game. Averaging nearly 32 points per game and shooting 42% from deep – Curry will have his way against this defense.

Together, it adds up to a Warriors win and cover on Sunday afternoon. Bet Golden State as your final favorite of the day.
