The NASCAR Cup Series moves from a wild race at Fontana to Vegas! It’s already time for the third race of the young season which is the Pennzoil 400 presented by Jiffy Lube at Las Vegas Motor Speedway (LMS). Denny Hamlin won the last race at LMS and it was Kyle Larson who won the early race at the track in 2021 making him the defending champ of the Pennzoil 400.
Larson also won last weekend in California which is probably one of the many reasons he’s the favorite to win outright this Sunday. Larson comes in at +450 with Hamlin rounding out the main favorites at +1100 along with William Byron.
Las Vegas has seen a variety of drivers and manufacturers win at the track since the first Cup Series race was run there in 1998. And that’s been the case over the last few trips to LMS. Yes, Ford seemed to rule the track over the last ten visits with the Blue Oval drivers winning five of those ten. But, over the last five trips to the track, a Ford driver has only taken the checkered flag once.
Chevrolet and Toyota have both won twice during that five-race span with Toyota (Denny Hamlin) being the last LMS winner. That’s a bunch of info to cram into the start of an article but it’s important to note for this track. Especially since most of the teams seem to have a decent grasp on what they can expect out of the new cars.
All of that being said, the favorites to win outright once again includes all three brands! Chevrolet, Ford, and Toyota. Here are the top-five favorites at +1100 and under to win the Pennzoil 400 Presented by Jiffy Lube at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
Kyle Larson +450
Chase Elliott +700
Joey Logano +750
Ryan Blaney +900
Denny Hamlin +1100
William Byron +1100

2022 Pennzoil 400 Picks
Kyle Larson +450
Kyle Larson won the Auto Club 400 last weekend after looking like he might have a rough day. He looked like he was already in the same form that he was when he won the 2021 NASCAR Cup Series Championship. Larson also was one of the four Chevrolets to occupy the top five Auto Club finishers. I’m not fading on Larson because he always seems to be a threat at Las Vegas. In his last nine starts at the track, he’s won a race and finished in the top ten a total of seven times.
Joey Logano +750
Joey Logano finished 5th last week in California and looked like he and his team had figured out the new NextGen version of their Ford Mustang. Logano is also one of the top-rated drivers at LMS according to his stats. Only Martin Truex Jr is slightly ahead in combined Fantasy stats at the track and that’s probably because Truex has led more laps there than Logano over the last ten races at the venue. Logano has won twice at the track in his last ten starts with eight runs inside the top ten.
Martin Truex Jr +1600
Martin Truex Jr is the best driver when it comes to Las Vegas Motor Speedway according to NASCAR Fantasy stats! In his last ten trips to the track. During that time he’s won twice, had 6 top-5 runs, and 8 races where he finished 10th or better. He finished 4th at LMS during the last race and was one of three Toyota drivers in the top-five.
Others to Consider: Brad Keselowski (+2500) always runs well at LMS and he has two wins there to back that up. The problem is that Keselowski is getting caught up in wrecks early in the season. Daniel Suarez (+4000) looked strong the last two weeks and was out front for a short time at Auto Club. He may be the darkhorse contender!
