As we head into October with football season in full swing, the NBA might not be on your radar just yet. It should be.
The regular season begins on October 19 and prior to the season kickoff bettors should check out these NBA regular season win total odds and picks. Your bankrolls will thank you.
Utah Jazz Win Total – OVER 52 Wins (-140)
The Jazz return essentially the same roster from a year ago. Utah added some lineup depth with the offseason acquisitions of Rudy Gay and Hassan Whiteside. With the likes of Donovan Mitchell and three- time NBA Defensive Player of the Year Rudy Gobert, the Jazz went 52-20 last year in the league’s shortened schedule.
Adding ten games to the schedule will give Utah the opportunity to easily surpass last year’s total of 52. The Jazz were the only team in the NBA ranked in the top 5 in both offensive efficiency (2nd) and defensive efficiency (4th). They will do the same in 2021-22 and go Over 52.
Chicago Bulls Win Total – OVER 42.5 Wins (-125)
There’s a reason why oddsmakers have this line at -125. The Bulls finished 31-41 last season, well short of 43 wins. No worries. The Bulls will be the most improved team in the NBA in the 2021-22 season.
They already have one of the best young players in the game in All-Star Zach LaVine who averaged 27.4 points a game last year. LaVine also missed several games due to the NBA’s COVID protocols.
The reason why the Bulls can threaten this win total is their activity in the offseason. Chicago added Lonzo Ball and DeMar DeRozan both of whom should enter the Bulls starting lineup. Don’t forget Nikola Vucevic who was obtained at the trade deadline last year. The Bulls will have the talent to take them Over 42.5 wins.
Toronto Raptors Win Total – UNDER 36.5 Wins (+105)
Hard to believe it’s been just two years since Toronto won an NBA title. The roster is much different and so are the results. The Raptors won just 27 games last season.
Pascal Siakam and Fred VanVleet are back, but Kyle Lowry is gone. Bringing in Goran Dragic and a handful of others won’t make up for the loss of one of the league’s better two-way guards. Even with an extra 10 games in 2021-22, Toronto will have a difficult time hitting 37 wins. Back the Under at plus money.
New York Knicks Win Total – Over 42.5 Wins (-125)
Head coach Tom Thibodeau has turned the Knicks into the best defensive team in the NBA. That defense is why the Knicks were able to finish fourth in the Eastern Conference last year. In 72 games, the Knicks went 41-31.
New York will play another 10 games this season. They’ve got Julius Randle, the NBA’s Most Improved Player in 2021, as their star. They went out in the offseason and put more pieces of the puzzle together. The Knicks added Kemba Walker and Evan Fournier and they were able to re-sign Derrick Rose and Nerlens Noel.
After winning 41 games last season, winning 43 with an even better roster should be a breeze. Back the Over at 42.5.
Minnesota Timberwolves Win Total – UNDER 35 Wins (-115)
One thing the T-Wolves are very good at is scoring points. They are horrendous as stopping their opponents from scoring. Minnesota ranked 29th in points allowed last season. Don’t expect that to miraculously change.
Anthony Edwards proved to be a great draft pick and the Timberwolves added more talent in this year’s draft. This team will go as D’Angelo Russell and Karl-Anthony Towns go. And that is not likely to produce 35 wins.
Minnesota won 23 games last year and just 19 in the shortened 2019-20 season. Part of their problem is the division in which they play. The T-Wolves will play 12 games against Utah, Denver, and Portland. Until they learn to play defense, Minnesota is going Under 35.
