Best MLB Underdog Picks for Tuesday, April 26th 2022

Major League Baseball returns Tuesday with a full plate of games running from early afternoon to late night.

The Toronto Blue Jays have assumed control of the American League with an 11-6 record, while the surging San Francisco Giants are just a half-game from overtaking the Los Angeles Dodgers in a packed National League West.

Tonight, it’s all about the underdog; here are the best under-the-radar prospects for Tuesday’s game.

Chicago Cubs vs. Atlanta Braves

Cubs vs. Braves Betting Preview

Best Bet: Cubs ML (+151)

No team has been better at the plate than the Chicago Cubs, who are hitting .273 and have scored the third-most runs in the entire league.

They will also be starting Marcus Stroman, their number-two, who has not had a great start to the year but has been consistently productive since he entered the league in 2014.

Chicago did inexplicably lose three of four to the Pittsburgh Pirates recently, winning their lone game 21-0, but they should be able to bounce back.

Atlanta, the reigning World Series champion, has not been that impressive start to the year, only managing a 7-10 record; on top of that, they are only 4-6 at home, meaning that they do not have an ace in the hole to fall back on.

Superstar Ronald Acuna Jr. is still not back from rehab work in the minor leagues, which has mostly left free-agent signing Matt Olson to fend for himself.

Max Fried will be on the bump and will give the Braves a chance, but the Cubs have an advantage despite what the odds may say.

Detroit Tigers vs. Minnesota Twins

Tigers vs. Twins Betting Preview

Best Bet: Tigers ML (+124)

The Tigers have been up and down in the early parts of their 2022 campaign, as seen with their recent series with the Colorado Rockies, which they started with a 13-0 win before losing the next two games.

Javier Baez is back from an injury and will make an impact on the starting lineup, although the team’s biggest problem is still inconsistency from day to day. Eduardo Rodriguez will get the starting nod, having allowed two or three earned runs in every start thus far.

The Twins are similar to the Tigers in the sense that it is hard to predict what they are going to do at any given time.

They started the year extremely hot at the plate and led the league in home runs for a while, though they have since fallen to 11th— even worse, they are 22nd in batting average and hitting just .217, meaning they have fewer opportunities to score than most of the teams they play.

Chris Paddack is still looking to get his first win in his third start of the season, but with his tendency to slip up and let runs in, Tuesday is not a great time to bet on that happening.

New York Mets vs. St. Louis Cardinals

Mets vs. Cardinals Betting Preview

Best Bet: Cardinals ML (+103)

The New York Mets have one of the best defenses in baseball, but the Cardinals have been playing well enough to win at least one game in this series.

Yesterday’s result against Max Scherzer was expected, but today’s matchup between Chris Bassitt and Jordan Hicks could ultimately be pushed to a draw, if not in favor of Hicks and the Cards.

There is not a ton to say about this matchup other than it should be airtight, but St. Louis has the talent in Nolan Arenado and the supporting cast to snag a game against the red-hot Mets.
