2023 MLB Hits Leader Odds and Picks

Who will lead MLB in hits during the 2023 regular season? We’re going to analyze the betting odds and predict the winner of this season-long player props betting market.

MLB Betting Sites

Freddie Freeman led the Majors in hits (199) last season. Trea Turner led MLB in hits in 2020 (78) and 2021 (195). Whit Merrifield is the last player to have 200+ hits, which he accomplished in 2019.

Bo Bichette has led the AL in hits the last two seasons with 191 (2021) and 189 (2022).

Top Contenders to Lead MLB in Hits in 2023

There are three players priced at 10/1 or less odds to lead MLB in hits during the 2023 regular season.

Turner (+650) is favored and for good reason. He batted .335 in 2020 and .328 in 2021. He batted .298 last season with the Dodgers and he’ll now be batting leadoff for the Phillies.

Freeman (+1000) had a career-high 199 hits last season, which was his first season with the Dodgers. He’ll be expected to get on-base a lot this season now that Turner is no longer with the team.

Bichette (+1000) has been a hitting machine for the Blue Jays. Bichette hit .298 (191 hits) in 2021 and .290 (189 hits) in 2022. As long as he’s healthy, he’ll finish with around 200 hits again in 2023.

2023 MLB Hits Leader Predictions

The top three in this betting market finished in the top three in hits last season.

There are lots of other options, though. Jose Abreu (184 hits in 2022), Amed Rosario (180 hits in 2022), Nathaniel Lowe (179 hits in 2022) and Paul Goldschmidt (178 hits in 2022) are all contenders.

Out of this group, Goldschmidt (+2000) looks to be the best value. He hit .317 (career-high) last season and will be relied upon again to generate offense. Goldschmidt has had 170+ hits in six seasons.

Tim Anderson (+1200) is a contender if he can stay healthy. Anderson had 163 hits in 123 games in 2021 and 100 hits in 79 games last season. If he can play 150+ games, he’d be among the leaders.

Luis Arraez (+1400) is one of my picks. Arraez hit .316 (173 hits) last season. He has batted .314 in his MLB career. Arraez will be batting leadoff for the Marlins and should get more at bats this season.

If Arraez can exceed 600 at bats, he’ll have a great shot at finishing the season with around 200 hits.

Dansby Swanson (+5000) is another I like at a great price. Swanson had a career-high 177 hits with the Braves last season. He signed a big offseason contract with the Cubs and will bat leadoff this season.

Swanson will get a lot of at bats and if he can improve his batting average a bit, he could lead MLB in hits.

Best Bets: Freeman (+1000), Arraez (+1400) and Swanson (+5000)
