2023 Pala Casino 400 Odds and Picks

The Daytona 500 is in the books and the NASCAR Cup Series is returning to Fontana, California for the Pala Casino 400 at Auto Club Speedway. This is a track where the last two races have been won by drivers behind the wheel of Chevrolet Camaros.

If you think that’s a trend then consider this. The Daytona 500 pole and the 500 win both were achieved by Chevrolet drivers. All of that information is probably why Kyle Larson is coming in as the lone favorite for Sunday’s race as he’s great at this track and he is a Chevy driver. Larson won this race last season and he’s at +650.

NASCAR skipped the venue in 2021 due to COVID-19 restrictions. Instead, a stop at the Daytona road course was made. Then, last year the Cup Series returned in 2022 where Larson won. Before that, in 2020, the race was won by Alex Bowman – who also drives a Chevrolet. Bowman comes in at +2000 among a pack of other drivers with similar odds.

Chevrolet has won four of the last six races at the venue with Toyota taking the other two. As for Ford, they last won at Auto Club in 2015.

Kyle Larson +650

Chase Elliott +750

Denny Hamlin +800

Ryan Blaney +1000

Kyle Busch +1000

Christopher Bell +1000

This race has six former winners entered into the field including Larson and Bowman. They are Kyle Busch, Martin Truex Jr, Brad Keselowski and Kevin Harvick. Jimmie Johnson also won at this track, but he has not entered into this race following his return to the driver’s seat last weekend at the Daytona 500. Johnson is not the only one skipping this race as the field includes only 36 cars as compared to 40 last week.

2023 Pala Casino 400 Predictions

Kyle Larson +650

Kyle Larson won here in 2017 when he was with Chip Ganassi Racing. During that win, he was out front for 110 laps. He has only had eight Cup Series starts at Auto Club Speedway and has managed the win twice along with four finishes of 5th or better. His other starts here include being 9th in 2020, 15th place in 2019 and an 11th place run in 2014. Last season he led 28 laps while grabbing the checkered flag, but ran most of the other laps toward the front.

Kyle Busch +1000

Kyle Busch won this race two years ago giving him three wins at Auto Club Speedway in the Cup Series. He has also finished eight times inside the top ten in his last ten trips to the track. That stat puts him at the top of the NASCAR Fantasy stat list when it comes to Auto Club. Those numbers don’t include other wins he has there in the Xfinity Series – which is an additional six checkered flags and 16 more runs inside the tenth spot. Also, Busch has moved from Toyota to Chevrolet.

Tyler Reddick +1200

Tyler Reddick comes in among a group of drivers bundled together from +1000 through +1200. Last year at this race he was the most dominant driver in the field. He led a total of 90 laps before a last-race shuffle and a disappointing 24th-place finish. Reddick now drives a Toyota for 23X1 racing, but last season he was driving – you guessed it – a Chevrolet. He may have changed seats but he knows his way around this track.

Others: Ryan Blaney (+1000) looked strong at Daytona until wrecks not of his doing slowed him down. Still, he posted an 8th-place run. Kevin Harvick (+200) has a win here and several top-ten runs at Auto Club. He finished 12th in Daytona. Both Blaney and Harvick drive Ford Mustangs.
