NBA Totals Predictions for Monday’s Playoff Slate

Every series has had one game so far in the NBA playoffs, and the first round continues on Monday night. There are just two games on the Monday slate, let’s break down our favorite NBA totals to consider for the night.

Miami Heat at Milwaukee Bucks Over/Under Pick

Heat vs. Bucks Betting Report

Best Bet: OVER 221.5 Points

Milwaukee took Game 1 of this series, 109-107, in overtime. While an extra frame didn’t reach the projected total for Monday night, there’s reason to trust that more points are coming.

The biggest sign is the advantages both offenses have from the perimeter. The Bucks own one of the best overall offenses in the entire NBA, second overall. They have the fifth-strongest three-point offense in the league, matched up on the Heat’s 23rd-ranked perimeter defense.

Miami plays at a slower pace, so their offensive numbers are middling, but their preferred style of scoring comes from the deep ball. Surprisingly, there’s no defense more generous to three-point performance than Milwaukee’s.

Threes should be flying throughout this series, and points will come from those opportunities.

Consider betting on not just the over but a couple of player props as well. For Miami, the best three-point shooters are Duncan Robinson and Kendrick Nunn. Milwaukee’s best targets for props in this one are likely Khris Middleton and Jrue Holiday.

On the season, the Heat are 38-35 against over/unders. The Bucks are 41-31 against over/unders.

Portland Trail Blazers at Denver Nuggets Over/Under Pick

Trail Blazers vs. Nuggets Betting Report

Best Bet: OVER 227 Points

The second game of the evening gets going at 10 PM EST. This is a juicy total to bet on and our favorite of the two on Monday.

Game 1 between the Blazers and Nuggets saw Portland take the win, 123-109. There’s a lot to like between both of these teams: star players, a weak defense, and elite offenses. Game 1 exceeded the projected total for Monday, and the Nuggets are due for a bounce-back performance that fuels this over.

When bringing in points per game, effective field goal percentage, and efficiency, these are two of the best offenses in the NBA. Denver ranks sixth, and Portland ranks seventh.

Going further in the Nuggets’ favor is the Blazers defense, which comes in as a bottom-five unit in the NBA.

Nikola Jokic has had a commanding season, the likely league MVP. With Jamal Murray out for the year, Jokic has taken control of this offense and is well-positioned to put points on the board and even this series.

Damian Lillard averages nearly 30 points per game and rises to a new level come playoff time. Game 1 was no exception, with Lillard dropping 34 – identical to Jokic.

Before the playoff series, the most recent game between these two teams saw a total of 248 points.

Bet the over on Monday confidently, points are coming. Just as we touched on above, don’t limit your bets to just the game total. Jokic and Lillard’s overs should be safe bets, as should supporting players CJ McCollum and Michael Porter Jr.

On the season, the Blazers are 39-34 against over/unders while the Nuggets are 40-33.
