Shakur Stevenson vs. Floyd Schofield was called off. Schofield was taken ill in the week of their WBC lightweight title fight in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, on February 22, 2025, and Stevenson knocked out his late replacement, Josh Padley, in the ninth round instead.
Both fighters have moved on. Schofield fights Lucas Bahdi for the vacant WBA lightweight title in Chicago on October 10, 2026, and Stevenson, now the WBO junior welterweight champion, signed with Zuffa Boxing in July 2026.

What happened in Riyadh
ESPN reported that Schofield, then 22, fell ill on the Tuesday of fight week and that the British Boxing Board of Control pulled him from the bout. Golden Boy later confirmed he had been released from hospital. The fight was on the card headed by the Artur Beterbiev and Dmitry Bivol rematch, which also had Daniel Dubois against Joseph Parker at heavyweight.
Padley, 15-0 with four knockouts and a British lightweight, took the fight on about four days’ notice. ESPN reported that he was working full time as an electrician and was on a construction site that Tuesday morning when the call came. Stevenson, then 22-0 with 10 knockouts, stopped him in the ninth round.

Stevenson beat Teofimo Lopez Jr. in January 2026, a fight ESPN described as a near shutout after Stevenson moved up in weight, and ESPN calls him a four-division champion. His multi-fight deal with Zuffa Boxing, the promotion run by UFC CEO Dana White, was reported on July 10, 2026. Stevenson told ESPN he wants “the biggest and best fights” rather than chasing undisputed status.
