With the 2022 Major League Soccer season hitting full stride, the league’s best are beginning to rise to the top. LAFC leads the Western Conference and MLS with seven wins and an overall record of 7-2-1.
LAFC leads MLS in goals for (23) and is tied with Austin FC for the best goal differential (+13). Austin and the LA Galaxy each have six wins though they have obtained them in different fashion.
Austin is second in MLS goals scored (22) while the Galaxy have won with defense. In 10 games, they have allowed just seven goals which ties them with FC Dallas for the fewest allowed in MLS. The two teams – Galaxy & Dallas – play each other this Saturday.
Here’s a look at that match as well as the MLS predictions for Saturday, May 14th 2022.
New York vs. Philadelphia
Best Bet: UNDER 2.5
The top two teams in the East meet at Subaru Park in Chester, Pa., just outside the city limits of Philadelphia.
The Union is fresh off three consecutive draws. Their opponent, the New York Red Bulls, haven’t lost in four consecutive games. The Red Bulls have two wins and two draws in their last four matches.
New York has two clean sheets and has only allowed two goals in those four games. Philadelphia’s scores in its last three games were 2-2, 1-1, and 1-1.
The Union has given up just two goals in their five home matches this season. Both New York and Philadelphia have allowed just eight goals each this season. That is tied for the second-fewest in MLS. Defense rules this match on Saturday. Play the Under.
Real Salt Lake vs. Austin FC
Best Bet: REAL SALT LAKE +125
Real Salt Lake has just one win in its last seven matches. Despite a minus-5 goal differential, RSL finds itself in fifth place in the Western Conference.
RSL faces the West’s No. 2 Austin FC at home on Saturday. As mentioned, Austin is second in MLS in goals and tied for first in goal differential (+13). Austin won four straight matches before losing to the LA Galaxy 1-0 last Sunday.
Ironically, RSL’s only win in its last seven matches is a 1-0 victory over the Galaxy. RSL has yet to lose at home (3-1-0) and they have allowed just two goals in their last three matches. RSL has played Austin once at home in August of last year. The final was 1-0 RSL. Look for a repeat.

Toronto FC vs. Orlando City SC
Best Bet: TORONTO +155
Toronto FC has lost four straight matches, including consecutive shutout losses to Cincinnati (2-0) and Vancouver (1-0). Toronto has three wins in its 11 games so far in 2022 and all three victories have come at home.
Orlando lost last week 4-1 to CF Montreal. That gives Orlando two losses in its last three matches. The last time Orlando visited Toronto was in July of last season. The teams played to a 1-1 draw.
Toronto has fared well against Orlando at home. In the last six matches at BMO Field, Toronto has just one loss. They are due for a win and get it on Saturday.
LA Galaxy vs. FC Dallas
Best Bet: DALLAS +0.5 (-110)
It’s the No. 3 and No. 4 teams in the West at Dignity Health Sports Park in Los Angeles on Saturday night. Both teams are playing well.
The Galaxy have just one loss in their last six matches. Dallas hasn’t lost since March 5. The home team has dominated this series. The Galaxy have won two with one draw in the last three matches at home against Dallas.
What FC Dallas has done well all season is keep matches close. The team’s ATS record is 8-1-1 overall and 3-0-1 on the road. They’ll keep this one close too.
