The NBA MVP race is heating up as a clear, distinct top three has emerged. Golden State’s Steph Curry recently broke the NBA record for career three-pointers. He’s also having an MVP-worthy season.
Will Curry win the MVP or will someone else overtake the former two-time winner? Here are the updated 2022 NBA MVP odds and a look at who might win it.
The Top Three 2022 NBA MVP Contenders
There is no doubt Curry is worthy of another MVP after the way he has been playing so far this season. He is averaging 27.9 points, 5.9 assists, and 5.3 rebounds all while shooting 39.9 percent from three-point range. His Warriors are battling Phoenix for the top spot in the Western Conference and Curry is one of the leading candidates for the NBA’s All-Defensive Team.
Milwaukee’s Giannis Antetokounmpo has also won two MVPs and his performance thus far this season is also MVP-worthy. The Greek Freak is averaging 27.4 points, 11.6 rebounds, and 5.8 assists per game.
Curry’s biggest competition might come from Brooklyn’s Kevin Durant. He is the NBA’s leading scorer averaging 29.7 points per game. He also averages 7.9 rebounds and 5.9 assists a game. Durant’s last four games in December are certainly those of an MVP. He scored 31, 51, 34, and 34 points. He recorded two double-doubles and one triple-double when he had 34 points, 13 rebounds, and 11 assists in a win over Toronto on Dec. 14.
Best Bets
With his efforts thus far this season – surpassing Ray Allen for career three-pointers helps – this is Curry’s award to lose. That’s why he tops the list at -110 to win.
It’s possible that Durant sneaks in there and snags the award if he leads the Nets to the top spot in the East and then all the way to the NBA Finals. He will likely lead the NBA in scoring and have the types of numbers of an MVP. At +250, you have to like the odds.

Longshot
Last year’s NBA MVP, Nikola Jokic opened as a +3000 longshot to win the award. Right now, the Joker is listed at +1400, but he isn’t enjoying the type of season he had a year ago. Plus, his Denver Nuggets are just 16-16 and headed for the play-in tournament.
Keep an eye on the Suns’ Devin Booker at +5000. He is the leading scorer (22.8 ppg) on the team that currently has one of the best records in the NBA. The Suns played for an NBA title last year and appear to be headed right back to the NBA Finals. Booker will have plenty of opportunities from now until the end of the season to prove he is worthy of this year’s MVP.
