Nashville Eyes Another Statement Win as Surridge Sparks Scoring Surge
After one of the most dominant offensive showings in MLS history, Nashville SC will look to keep the momentum rolling when they visit Atlanta United on Saturday afternoon.
Surridge’s Historic Outburst Fuels Nashville’s Hot Streak
Nashville (5-4-1, 16 points) dismantled the Chicago Fire 7-2 last weekend, scoring five goals in the first half alone — a feat accomplished by just four other teams in MLS history. The star of the show? Sam Surridge, who netted four goals in a record-setting performance.

“Each week, Sam puts in a really good shift,” Nashville coach B.J. Callaghan said. “He’s been doing everything for us, every match, and he was rewarded for that.”
The 26-year-old striker now leads Nashville with six goals, surpassing former MVP Hany Mukhtar (four). Nashville has won two of its last three matches and is trending upward in the Eastern Conference standings.
Atlanta United Mired in Scoring Slump
In stark contrast, Atlanta (2-5-3, 9 points) is in desperate need of a turnaround. The team has failed to score in its last three matches and hasn’t found the net since April 5 — a 1-1 draw against FC Dallas.
“We have to accept the situation right now. It’s not where we want to be,” said Atlanta head coach Ronny Deila. “We will come stronger from it, that I’m sure of.”
Atlanta’s minus-eight goal differential is the third worst in the conference, highlighting their struggles on both ends of the pitch.

Latte Lath Returns, But Will It Be Enough?
The return of top scorer Emmanuel Latte Lath (five goals) from suspension gives Atlanta a much-needed boost. He’ll be joined by Miguel Almiron, who has scored twice this season, but the club needs a full team effort to break its three-game drought.
With Surridge in top form and Nashville’s confidence soaring, Atlanta will need to rediscover its identity quickly — or risk another humbling defeat at home.
