Dodgers Seek Sweep as May Starts Finale Against Braves
The Los Angeles Dodgers are playing some of the best baseball in the majors, and on Sunday night, they’ll have a chance to make a little history. When Dustin May takes the mound in Atlanta, he’ll be doing so with a mission: complete a perfect season sweep against the Braves.
If the Dodgers win, they’ll become the first team since the 2021 Toronto Blue Jays to sweep a multi-series season set against Atlanta — a feat that says as much about Los Angeles’ dominance as it does about their depth.

Dodgers on a Roll
The Dodgers’ 10-3 victory on Saturday was their seventh consecutive win, pushing them to a major-league best 23-9 on the season. Saturday’s win wasn’t just another “W” in the column — it was a statement. The offense exploded for 12 hits, including home runs by Shohei Ohtani and Freddie Freeman, both of whom are heating up at the plate.
The top three batters in LA’s order combined to go 8-for-13 with 8 runs and 6 RBIs in Saturday’s rout. It was their fourth game this season scoring 10+ runs, and the third time in their last four contests.
Freeman, a former Brave, continues to torment his old club. His sixth homer of the year drew plenty of cheers — and maybe a few groans — from the Truist Park crowd.

Probable Pitchers: Dustin May vs. Bryce Elder
May has been solid through five starts, holding hitters to a .216 batting average. However, he’s still searching for consistency. Against Miami on Monday, May gave up three runs over 5 1/3 innings and walked three.
He last faced the Braves on April 1, allowing one unearned run on one hit over five innings. Despite the clean outing, he received a no-decision.
Lifetime against Atlanta, May is 0-1 with a 5.14 ERA in two appearances.
Bryce Elder – RHP, Braves (1-1, 5.33 ERA)
Elder got his first win of the year Monday in Colorado, tossing six innings of three-run ball. However, his command has been up and down, and against the Dodgers on April 2, he gave up three runs, including two homers, in just four innings.
He’s struggled against LA in general, entering with a 5.06 career ERA in four starts against the Dodgers.

Ohtani’s Bat is Booming — But He’s Not Close to Pitching
Shohei Ohtani continues to dominate at the plate. His eighth home run of the season was a no-doubter, and he now has a slugging percentage north of .550.
But what about on the mound?
Ohtani threw a 35-pitch bullpen session before Saturday’s game, but Dodgers manager Dave Roberts made it clear — he’s not close to a return. Still recovering from UCL surgery, Ohtani is “a couple of months away” from pitching in games, even simulated ones.

Braves Searching for a Response
It’s been a rough week for the Braves. Saturday’s loss was their third in a row, and they’ve now lost 10 of their last 12 matchups with Los Angeles. Their offense managed just five hits on Saturday, and Bryce Elder will need to be sharp to keep LA’s bats quiet.
Still, Matt Olson continues to be a bright spot. His on-base streak reached 20 games with two walks Saturday — showing patience even when the lineup around him is cold.

Dodgers Make Roster Move: Edman to IL, Kim Debuts
Tommy Edman was placed on the 10-day injured list Saturday with a right ankle sprain suffered in Tuesday’s win over Miami. He was expected to miss just a couple of games but will now take extra time to recover.
The Dodgers called up Hyeseong Kim, who made his MLB debut Saturday as a late defensive replacement. The 25-year-old utility man was batting .319 at Triple-A Oklahoma City and brings speed and glove versatility to LA’s bench.

What to Expect Sunday Night
If Elder can locate his fastball and keep the ball in the park, Atlanta has a shot to stop the sweep. But May’s raw stuff — and LA’s relentless offense — could be too much once again.
