2025 WWE Backlash Odds, Predictions and Match Card

Last Updated on

On Saturday, May 10, the 2025 WWE Backlash live event will emanate from the Enterprise Center in St. Louis, Missouri. This is the 20th installment of the Backlash franchise and the first time that John Cena has appeared on Backlash since 2009.

Cena will defend his newly won Undisputed WWE Championship against longtime rival Randy Orton in the main event of Backlash.

Also on the card are three more title matches with both the men’s and women’s Intercontinental Championships on the line, along with the men’s United States Championship in a fatal four-way match.

As of this writing, the lone non-title match is a grudge bout between former world champion Gunther and current RAW commentator, ESPN personality Pat McAfee.

With that said, let’s take a closer look at the available WWE Backlash odds, courtesy of the top sports betting sites, and make our WWE Backlash predictions. This WWE Premium Live Event has a 7pm ET start time on Peacock and Netflix.

At first glance, there really isn’t much betting value with the Backlash card. John Cena, Jacob Fatu, and Gunther are massive betting favorites, and rightfully so.

Becky Lynch is the challenger, yet oddsmakers fully expect her to dethrone the Women’s Intercontinental champion as she’s a sizable favorite.

WWE Backlash Predictions

Check out our WWE Backlash predictions for the latest confirmed matches:

WWE Women’s Intercontinental Title Match

  • Becky Lynch (-400)
  • (c)Lyra Valkyria (+250)

At WrestleMania 41, Lyra Valkyria was set to team up with Bayley to face Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriquez for the Women’s Tag-Team titles. However, Bayley was found attacked backstage on Night 1 of WM 41 and unable to compete in the match on Night 2.

Becky Lynch made a surprise return and teamed up with Valkyria to upset the tag champs. However, the next night on WWE RAW, Lynch and Valkyria lost the titles after the latter was pinned.

This enraged Lynch, who attacked Valkyria after the match and turned heel for the first time in nearly three years. It also led to more viciousness from Lynch towards the women’s IC champ in the following weeks.

Ultimately, a match was made for Lynch to battle Valkyria over the women’s IC belt. And, as you can see from the odds, the sportsbooks believe that Lynch will win.

I have a hard time thinking otherwise. Lynch is still a big name and losing this match would be silly. A win and strong heel run would put her in line for another world title shot and possible run.

Bet: Becky Lynch (-400)

WWE Men’s Intercontinental Title Match

  • (c)Dominik Mysterio (NA)
  • Penta (NA)

As I predicted at WM 41, Dominik Mysterio won the Intercontinental Title in a fatal four-way match.

Furthermore, I also predicted that he would pin his stablemate Finn Balor, which he did. This, as I expected, opened the door for dissention in the Judgement Day faction and future feuds with the other competitors in the WM 41 match like Penta.

On the post-WM 41 episode of RAW, Mysterio defeated Penta to retain the title. Dirty Dom got the assist from a returning stablemate in JD McDonagh. Penta returned the favor the next week to prevent Balor and McDonagh from winning their tag match.

A week later, Penta beat McDonagh on RAW, which led to this IC title match against Mysterio at Backlash.

Unfortunately, Penta has no shot at winning the match. He’s ultimately just a glorified jobber right now until the WWE teams him back up with Rey Fenix and they go after the tag belts.

As of now, there are no odds for this Backlash match. We’ll update the betting odds as soon as they become available. I would expect Mysterio to be a healthy favorite around Gunther’s line.

Bet: Dominik Mysterio (NA)

US Title Fatal Four-Way Match

  • (c)Jacbo Fatu (-2500)
  • LA Knight (+700)
  • Drew McIntyre (+500)
  • Damian Priest (+900)

Like Mysterio, Jacob Fatu also won his championship at WM 41 by defeating LA Knight for the US Title. As predicted, Fatu became the champ and is slowly ascending to world title contender. On Night 2 of WM 41, Drew McIntyre beat Damien Priest as we predicted.

On the post-WM 41 episode of RAW, Knight and McIntyre both came out to demand a shot at the US Championship. Eventually, Priest was added to the mix after attacking McIntyre during a no.1 contender match with Knight.

Fatu’s cousin and stalemate Solo Sikoa played a role in causing no contest results in the previous no.1 contender matches as well. Ultimately, this led to a fatal four-way match for the US Title at Backlash after SmackDown GM Nick Aldis added McIntyre to a previously scheduled triple-threat match.

These four men, five if you include Sikoa, have kept the US Championship at the forefront of TV time and, for the most part, this title has been entertaining for most of 2025 so far.

With that said, I don’t see any reason for Fatu to lose the belt less than a month after WM 41. It would be absolutely foolish to make a rising superstar lose so soon.

The oddsmakers have made Fatu one of the biggest favorites of the entire PLE. Take Fatu to win the match and retain the title.

Bet: Jacbo Fatu (-2500)

Pat McAfee vs. Gunther

  • Gunther (-1600)
  • Pat McAfee (+600)

Also, on the post-WrestleMania episode of RAW, Gunther came out to confront announcers Pat McAfee and Michael Cole. The former champ felt disrespected by the two commentators during his loss to Jey Uso at WM 41.

This led to The Ring General attacking Cole. McAfee jumped in to help out the elder Cole, which resulted the former NFL punter to get choked out. Gunther was suspended by RAW GM Adam Pearce as a result of this attack.

Ultimately, McAfee wanted revenge by fighting Gunther. So, a match was made for Backlash. And, as you can see, the books believe that Gunther will win.

It would be quite silly to have the former world champ lose to a commentator, even if that person wrestles on a limited basis.

There’s no betting value in this match, but it could set up something more meaningful for Gunther in the near future. Take The Ring General to win a competitive contest.

Bet: Gunther (-1600)

Undisputed WWE Championship Match

  • (c)John Cena (-2000)
  • Randy Orton (+750)

We were informed last year that 2025 would be John Cena’s retirement tour. This resulted in a near-win at the Royal Rumble. However, it eventually led to Cena turning heel at the Elimination Chamber and attacking Cody Rhodes which set up a big world title match at WM 41.

Despite my objections, the WWE had Cena defeat Rhodes for the Undisputed WWE Championship.

On the following episode of RAW, Cena came out and gloated while also putting down the crowd. Then, out of nowhere, Randy Orton hit an RKO to reignited a longstanding rivalry between the two frenemies.

Making things even more dramatic is the fact that Backlash is taking place in Orton’s hometown of St. Louis. So, you know that Cena is going to do something dastardly to win and send all of the Orton fans home depressed.

Although the match is being billed as “One Last Time,” it should really be billed as “No Way in Hell That Cena Loses.”

As cool as it is to see these two all-time greats wrestle again for a world title, the outcome is a foregone conclusion. Take Cena to retain the title by hook or by crook.

Bet: John Cena (-2000)

The 2024 Backlash event, also known as Backlash France, was one of the most enjoyable WWE events last year and not necessarily due to the in-ring action. Instead, it was due to the amazing French crowd. In fact, it was one of the most incredible wrestling atmospheres that I have seen in many years.

As for the 2024 Backlash results, nothing was unexpected. The Rhodes vs. Styles bout was highly entertaining as the two veterans put on a great match.
