2022 Toyota Save Mart 350 Odds and Picks

The NASCAR Cup Series heads back to Sonoma, California for the running of the Toyota Save Mart 350 at Sonoma Raceway. This comes after a nice mix of tracks over the last several weeks that produced four different race winners over the last five races, not including the 2022 NASCAR All-Star Race. This week an obvious road course favorite comes in as the favorite.

NASCAR Sportsbooks

And that driver is Chase Elliott as he is the lone favorite to win the Toyota Save Mart 350 outright. Elliott comes in at +550 with last year’s winner of this race, Kyle Larson, coming in at +650. Currently, Elliott is the active NASCAR Cup Series driver with the most road course wins. Here’s how it breaks down for drivers with more than two road course wins; Elliott (seven), Kyle Busch (four), Martin Truex Jr. (four), and Larson (three).

The road course winner list does not end there. During the 2021 season, seven Cup Series drivers won on road courses. Christopher Bell won the road course way at Daytona. Then Chase Elliott grabbed the checkered flag at COTA followed by Kyle Larson won three road course races. Larson won at Sonoma, Watkins Glen, and then again at the Charlotte road course known as the Roval. A.J. Allmendinger finished off the road course schedule with a victory at the Indianapolis road course track.

Sonoma Raceway is always a hit for NASCAR teams, their families, and race fans. The road course offers up a road course with elevation changes, 12 turns, and little room for mistakes. Last year Kyle Larson dominated the race by leading 50 laps of the rain-shortened race.

Only five other drivers led laps during the race. Chase Elliott was the second driver with the most laps out front as he was out front for 13 circuits. That’s a big difference! But, that’s just enough – combined with Elliott’s road course record, to help him top the odds list for the Save Mart 350.

2022 Toyota Save Mart 350 Predictions

Chase Elliott +550

It’s hard to pass on the active Cup series driver with the most wins on road courses. Half of Chase Elliott’s Cup wins have been on this type of track. He has a streak of four road course wins plus the two addition for a total of seven. Elliott comes in as the active NASCAR Cup Series driver with the most road course wins. His one fade is this… Elliott has never won a Cup Series race at Sonoma.

AJ Allmendinger +700

AJ Allmendinger is a seasoned road course racer and he won last week’s road course in the Xfinity Series at Portland. That was a track that he won a race at in an IndyCar ride. Allmendinger followed up that race on Saturday by flying directly to Gateway to score a 10th place finish in the NASCAR Cup Series.

Joey Logano +1800

Joey Logano has already won twice this season with both coming in the last five Cup Series point events. Logano is the best Team Penske driver and the best Ford driver so far this year. And, he’s not ruffled the feathers of other drivers as of late. His Gateway win against Kyle Busch was incredibly clean – considering how both of these drivers have a reputation of “hard-driving” behind the wheel.

Others to Consider: You have to consider Kyle Larson (+650) due to his record over the last two seasons as well as his three wins on this type of track last year. He, and his team, need to be more consistent. I want to take Martin Truex Jr (+900) but am beginning to fade on him this season. He finished in the 6 th spot last week at Gateway.
