Sporting KC Looks to Leapfrog FC Dallas in West Standings
Sporting Kansas City will aim to continue their recent run of form and leap ahead in the Western Conference standings when they host FC Dallas on Saturday.
KC (4-9-4, 16 points) kicks off a three-match homestand with a chance to overtake Dallas (4-6-6, 18 points), who currently sit just above them in the table. Sporting has earned points in four of their last five games (1-1-3) and is looking to bounce back after a 3-1 loss to LAFC last weekend.
“The expectation is this is going to be a Major League Soccer game where the margins are very thin, and the games are decided in the key moments,” said Sporting interim coach Kerry Zavagnin. “We’re going to have to be ready for that.”

Home Advantage and Familiar Foe
History favors the home side in this matchup. Sporting KC has won four straight home games against FC Dallas across all competitions since May 2022. In fact, the home team has prevailed in each of the last eight head-to-head contests.
Forward Daniel Salloi remains a consistent force for Kansas City with five goals and four assists this season. He’s also had great success against Dallas specifically, netting nine goals and two assists in 18 career MLS matches against them.
Dallas Fighting for Stability
FC Dallas has been better defensively of late but hasn’t found the win column in MLS since April 27. Since that win over Inter Miami, Dallas is 0-3-3 and most recently played to a scoreless draw against the Philadelphia Union on May 31.
Goalkeeper Maarten Paes was key in that result, making one save and praising the grit of his backline.
“You see Shaq (Moore) battling for every ball, Ramiro in an unnatural position battling for every duel,” Paes said. “They just grinded it out and we got the clean sheet together.”
Petar Musa will be a player to watch for Dallas. He’s tallied three goal contributions in three career appearances against Kansas City and could play a crucial role in breaking down the home defense.
Previous Meeting and What’s at Stake
This is the second meeting between the clubs in 2025. Dallas edged Kansas City 2-1 back on March 29 with goals from Lucho Acosta and Leo Chu just two minutes apart.
Sporting KC will be determined to settle the score and climb above the playoff line, while Dallas looks to extend their unbeaten run to three games.
