Slumping Colorado Rapids Set to Host Former Manager, Orlando City
The Colorado Rapids will try to stop their slide and regain form Saturday night as they welcome Orlando City SC to town — and with them, a familiar face on the opposing bench.
Oscar Pareja, once at the helm of the Rapids from 2012 to 2014, returns to Denver, now leading an Orlando squad that’s looking to bounce back after a two-game skid of its own.
“I have great memories in a place that, the people, the fans, all of them treat me very well,” Pareja said. “But now my love is for Orlando, and this is what I represent, and I’m going with all my soul and my heart.”

Rapids Looking to Reignite Momentum
Despite losing five of their last seven matches, the Rapids (6-7-4, 22 points) still sit ninth in the Western Conference — just above the playoff line. That’s keeping the mood positive in camp, especially with a more forgiving schedule and the return of key midfielder Cole Bassett.
“Frustration, disappointment, that’s an emotion that’s short-lived around here,” Colorado coach Chris Armas said. “With half a season to play, there’s so much to play for as we find ourselves in the middle of the table. So we’re using all of our energies for our excitement toward another home game.”
Bassett’s presence often proves pivotal. His season-ending injury last September preceded a six-game losing streak, including a quick playoff exit. His return could offer the spark the Rapids desperately need.
Orlando Rested and Ready
Orlando City (7-4-6, 27 points) also comes into this match on a two-game losing streak but had a far busier May than most teams. With U.S. Open Cup action added to their league duties, the Lions were tested often — and now benefit from a much-needed week off.
Offensively, they’ve remained potent. Martin Ojeda leads the team with eight goals and four assists, while Luis Muriel and Marco Pasalic have added six goals apiece. Pareja’s side continues to showcase one of MLS’s more well-rounded and versatile attacks.
In his two visits to Colorado with Orlando, Pareja has come away with one loss and one draw. He also knows the venue well from his years coaching FC Dallas, which adds even more familiarity to Saturday’s contest.
With both teams aiming to halt losing streaks, this clash in Colorado could go a long way toward shaping each club’s playoff trajectory. Bettors can explore the latest Soccer betting picks and MLS analysis for insight into this key showdown.
