Orlando City Looks to Extend Road Form Against Slumping Charlotte FC

Orlando City SC is hitting the midpoint of the MLS season with steady form and a strong road record—momentum they’ll aim to continue Saturday night as they visit Charlotte FC in a key Eastern Conference clash.

Orlando (9-5-6, 33 points) has split its last four matches but has notched both victories on the road. As the campaign reaches its midpoint, head coach Oscar Pareja emphasized the importance of consistency.

“Now we have to do it again and again,” Pareja said.

Charlotte (8-11-1, 25 points) returns to Bank of America Stadium for the first time since May 24, hoping that familiar surroundings will help snap a three-match losing streak. But the pressure is mounting.

“When you’re losing games, there will be some brutal things that are said,” admitted Charlotte coach Dean Smith. “Our performances have definitely deserved more than what we’ve got, but we can’t keep making the same mistakes.”

Defensive injuries are complicating matters for Charlotte. Souleyman Doumbia is out with a hamstring injury, and Andrew Privett is doubtful with a hip issue, leaving Smith short of options in a position he’s already looking to reinforce.

On the bright side, Charlotte locked in midfielder Pep Biel, whose loan deal will become permanent if performance targets are met. Biel has contributed six goals and eight assists in 19 matches and has been one of the few bright spots in an otherwise inconsistent attack. Idan Toklomati is also heating up, with goals in two straight games.

Orlando enters this match having already beaten Charlotte 3-1 on May 14. Luis Muriel, Martin Ojeda, and Ramiro Enrique all found the net in that contest, while Wilfried Zaha tallied the lone goal for Charlotte on their only shot on target.

“The team we have faced before,” Pareja said. “We know them.”

Orlando will be without defender Alex Freeman, who remains on international duty with the U.S. national team. Still, the Lions have proven effective away from home and could capitalize against a Charlotte side low on confidence and short on defenders.

For those eyeing this matchup for potential wagers, it’s a great moment to consult MLS betting predictions and look for value based on team form and lineup situations.
