On Saturday, July 19, boxing’s heavyweight division will be in the spotlight as Oleksandr Usyk and Daniel Dubois battle for the undisputed heavyweight championship. This huge event will be live on DAZN PPV from Wembley Stadium in London, UK.
This heavyweight fight is a rematch from their first bout which took place in August 2023, at Stadion Wroclaw in Wroclaw, Poland. We’ll discuss this bout in more detail below.
Usyk (23-0, 14KOs) is coming off two exciting fights against Tyson Fury where the Ukrainian won both bouts to claim all of the gold. However, the IBF heavyweight title was eventually forfeited in order for the rematch to take place.
Dubois (22-2, 21KOs) last fought roughly 10 months ago when he scored a massive 5th round KO victory over Anthony Joshua and claimed the IBF heavyweight title.
Eventually, Fury would retire and it led us to this undisputed title bout on Saturday. It’s the second time in a little over one year that there will be an undisputed championship fight in the heavyweight division. The Fury vs. Usyk bout was the first time this century that a bout of this magnitude took place.
The Usyk vs. Dubois PPV is set to begin at 12:30pm ET on DAZN. However, the ringwalk time for the main event fight isn’t expected until roughly 4:45pm ET.

The First Usyk vs. Dubois Fight
The first fight between these two champions took place on August 26, 2023, in Poland. Dubois, 19-1 at the time, became the mandatory challenger to Usyk and his WBA championship. Usyk was 20-0 and grinding his way towards the mega-fight with Fury.
One could say that Dubois wasn’t mature enough for this bout. He certainly wasn’t the developed fighter that he is today.
With that said, the bout went as expected up until the 5th round where Dubois hit Usyk with a low shot. The Ukrainian dropped to the canvas. However, it wasn’t ruled a knockdown. Instead, Usyk was given five minutes to recover. Dubois would go on to say that wasn’t a low blow and that he was cheated out of a victory.
After that controversial incident, Usyk turned up the intensity and knocked down Dubois in the 8th. He would follow that up with another knockdown in the 9th round where the Brit would not answer the count.
Usyk won via 9th round TKO and pretty much won every round in the fight. Usyk landed 88 punches compared to Dubois’ measly 47 punch total.
Recent Oleksandr Usyk Fights
Usyk became a world champion in the heavyweight division when he took out Anthony Joshua via unanimous decision in September 2021. At the time, Joshua was the IBF, IBO and WBO world champion. Usyk won via the scores of 115-113, 116-112, 117-112.
The two men would rematch in August 2022, where Usyk would win via split decision this time around. The scores were 113-115, 116-112, 115-113. The Ukrainian would retain the titles and then move on to his first bout against Dubois one year later.
Nine months after the Dubois victory, Usyk would clash with Tyson Fury in May 2024. Here, the Ukrainian would establish himself as the best heavyweight in the world after beating Fury via split decision 113-114, 114-113, 115-112.
Some would question if he actually won the fight. So, they would rematch seven months later on December 21, 2024. This time around, Usyk would win via unanimous decision with all three judges scoring it 116-112.
The unbeaten Ukrainian proved he was the best boxing heavyweight in this era and quite possibly one of the best of all-time.
Usyk commented on the upcoming rematch against Dubois and pointed out the Brit’s development:
“Daniel is a great fighter and has had a very good run since we first fought. He is a better fighter since we fought. He is more of a man, more of a boxer. He deserves this shot. But he has a little bit of an [mental] issue. He is maybe a little bit afraid. I am too, but my afraid is different to his afraid.”
Oleksandr Usyk Odds
Usyk opened as a -950 favorite for this rematch. He currently sits at a range of -340 to -460. This is the second fight in a row where Usyk opened as the favorite. He was a +115 underdog in the first Fury fight, but followed that up as a -182 favorite in their rematch.
As for their first encounter, Usyk opened as a massive -2000 favorite over Dubois. He closed at a range of -900 to -1450.
Recent Daniel Dubois Fights
As mentioned above, Dubois earned his first shot against Usyk after defeating Kevin Lerena via 3rd round TKO in December 2022. It was a gutsy performance by the Brit as he was knocked down three times in the opening round. Dubois would bounce back to stop Lerena in the third.
Following his loss to Usyk in August 2023, Dubois would step back into the ring just four months later. He would defeat Jarrell Miller via 10th round TKO. He finished off Miller with only a few seconds left in the fight.
Dubois would return to the ring in June 202, where he would claim the IBF inter heavyweight title by defeating Filip Hrgovic via 8th round TKO.
This win put him in line for a fight against Anthony Joshua three months later. The latter was looking to get back on track and back into the ring with Usyk. However, Dubois would put on his best performance to date by knocking down Joshua four times before picking up the 5th round KO.
Dubois still believes that he was cheated out of a victory in the first bout against Usyk:
“I feel like I was robbed out of a victory in the first fight [due to the low blow call]. I think there could be a weakness in him with the body shot. I just have to throw the kitchen sink at him this time. I now get a chance to rectify that result, to prove myself. That’s what I intend to do.”
Daniel Dubois Odds
Dubois opened as a large underdog for this rematch at +530 odds. He’s closed the gap some but remains the underdog at a range of +250 to +320. This is the third fight in a row where Dubois has been the underdog.
He was a +280 to +380 underdog against Joshua, which was bigger than his +175 to +240 status against Hrgovic. Dubois’ last bout as the favorite came against Miller in late 2023.
Oleksandr Usyk vs. Daniel Dubois Predictions
Go back to their first fight and rewatch what happened. I believe we’ll see more of the same. However, you can’t discredit Dubois’ growth. And, I think that development will produce a different outcome. Yet, it won’t produce a victory.
Usyk is still the better all-around boxer in this match. He will eventually, wear down Dubois after picking him apart for the better part of 12 rounds. I expect the Brit to come out fast and try to smother Usyk with his power and physicality. But that’s not going to beat Usyk. He’s cool, calm and calculating.
There’s no improvement from Dubois that will lead to a victory in this rematch. Take Usyk to win and become the undisputed heavyweight champion for a second time.
Bet: Oleksandr Usyk (-360)
The Best Oleksandr Usyk vs. Daniel Dubois Prop Bets
Check out our breakdown of the following Oleksandr Usyk vs. Daniel Dubois prop bets:
Over/Under 10.5 rounds
- Over 10.5 (-110)
- Under 10.5 (-120)
I alluded to it above. I do see this fight producing a different outcome from their first bout where Usyk won via 9th round TKO.
This time around, I believe that Dubois will last longer. So, take the Over as Usyk has gone Over 10.5 rounds in five of his last six bouts.
Bet: Over 10.5 (-110)
Will Fight go the distance?
- Yes (+125)
- No (-175)
Here’s the difference – we’re going the full 12 rounds. Dubois’s growth should produce an outing where he lasts until the distance. However, once we get to the scorecards, I see Usyk winning via unanimous decision as he wins at least eight of the 12 rounds. I’m not sure we’ll see more than one knockdown in this rematch.
Bet: Yes (+125)
Method of Victory
- Dubois via TKO/KO/DQ (+375)
- Dubois via decision (+1200)
- Usyk via TKO/KO/DQ (+120)
- Usyk via decision (+200)
- Draw (+1600)
I just teased it in the prop bet above. I like for Usyk to win this fight via decision like he’s done in five of his last six bouts. Of course, the first bout against Dubois was the one fight that didn’t go the distance over that span. However, I think it will this time. I see Dubois showing growth, improvement, and a better all-around performance. Just not enough to get the win.
Bet: Usyk via decision (+200)
Betting on Rounds
- Either Winner in rounds 1-4 (+550)
- Either Winner in rounds 5-8 (+260)
- Either Winner in rounds 9-12 (+350)
- Fight To Go The Distance (+125)
As you can see, I like this fight to go the distance. And, once with the judges, I believe that Usyk gets the unanimous decision win of at least 116-112.
However, if you are desperate for more value, then take a look at the option where either man wins in rounds 9-12. It’s 3.5x your investment. The first bout ended in the 9th.
Bet: Fight To Go The Distance (+125)
What’s Next For The Usyk vs. Dubois Winner?
If Dubois pulls off the upset, then we’ll get an immediate rematch. However, the most likely outcome is Usyk winning again. More than likely, we’ll somehow get a Fury vs. Usyk 3 fight as Tyson decided to come out of retirement. I don’t really see anyone else deserving a shot against Usyk.
