Washington vs Colorado State Picks and Predictions — August 30, 2025
The Washington Huskies open the 2025 season Saturday night at Husky Stadium, looking to extend their home winning streak to 21 games when they host the Colorado State Rams. Washington (6–7 in 2024) struggled overall but stayed perfect at home, while Colorado State (8–5) is aiming to build on its first winning season in seven years.

Washington Can Win If…
Quarterback Demond Williams Jr. takes the next step. Williams completed 78.1 percent of his passes with 8 TDs and just 1 interception last year in limited action, and now he leads a rebuilt Huskies offense. RB Jonah Coleman, who followed coach Jedd Fisch from Arizona, adds balance after rushing for 1,053 yards and 10 TDs.
“It’s now nice to feel grounded … I think we’re at a point where we can really take that next big step,” Fisch said.
Defensively, Washington’s additions — including linebacker Taariq “Buddah” Al-Uqdah (76 tackles, 5 fumble recoveries last year) — need to set the tone against a pass-heavy Rams attack.
Colorado State Can Win If…
QB Brayden Fowler-Nicolosi plays with efficiency. He threw for 3,460 yards and 22 TDs in 2023 but regressed statistically last year as the Rams shifted to a more pro-style offense. Still, he cut his interceptions from 16 to 9 — progress that coach Jay Norvell values.
“We want to be special,” Norvell said. “To do that, we have to step up in games like this. We’re excited about the opportunity.”
The Rams must avoid turnovers, establish some balance, and pressure Williams into mistakes to have a shot at an upset.
