The New York Red Bulls continue their quest to extend their historic playoff streak when they host the Columbus Crew on Saturday night at Red Bull Arena. With just six matches remaining, New York (11-11-6, 39 points) is tied with Chicago for the final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference. Meanwhile, the Crew (12-6-9, 45 points) are battling for a top-four spot but have struggled recently.

New York Can Win If…
They capitalize on their home advantage and see more from their attacking unit. The Red Bulls have been excellent at home (10-2-2), with Emil Forsberg contributing in five straight home matches and Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting leading the charge with 15 goals.
“We need every player, every offensive player, we need everyone … to be more hungry, more aggressive in the box to score,” said Red Bulls coach Sandro Schwarz.
A strong, aggressive start could help New York return to winning ways after their 1-0 loss at Charlotte FC. If they control possession and create enough chances, they should secure all three points.
Columbus Can Win If…
They improve defensively and get a boost from their returning players. The Crew have been leaking goals due to injuries to key players, including defender Mo Farsi and midfielder Darlington Nagbe, but both could return to action Saturday.
“A few of the players talk about, ‘I want to win, I want to win,’” said Crew coach Wilfried Nancy, referencing the revenge factor after New York ousted Columbus in the 2024 playoffs.
Columbus has talent on both sides of the ball, and if they can tighten up defensively and take advantage of any opportunities created by their star players, they can upset New York.
