2022 Pacific Classic Predictions
When: Saturday, September 3rd 2022
Where: Del Mar Racetrack
The Pacific Classic is open to Thoroughbreds three and older. The race is a $1 million-dollar prize purse and it is competed over 1¼ miles on dirt. The win, place and show selections are three of the six horses slated in this event.
Win: Flightline
The son of Tapit has won all the other races he has entered. Coast-to-coast, Flightline won the Grade 1 Metropolitan Stakes on June 11 this year at Belmont Park and he won the Grade 1 Malibu Stakes last year on Dec. 26 at Santa Anita Park.
As the odds-on favorite, Flightline would be a choice among many handicappers both young and old. With AP Indy and Unbridled in the mix as progenies, the Kentucky four-year colt is in the line of champions.
Place: Country Grammar

Country Grammar is a 8.10 rating on HRN and a 4-1 second favorite. Trained by famed Bob Baffert and ridden by veteran jockey John Velazquez, he is another legitimate contender in the Pacific Classic. The five-yeas horse has finished first and second in the last five races.
Sired by Tonalist, Country Grammar makes a living out of racing these West Coast tracks. He also makes the living out of finishing in the money.
Show: Royal Ship
The six-year gelding won the last time out in the Grade 2 San Diego Handicap at Del Mar on July 30. Country Grammar took second. Out the last few trips, Royal Ship tends to flourish at a mile.
The son of Midshipman has finished first, second or third in six of the last seven events he has run. Out the No. 3 post, Royal Ship is in the line to finish third of the six horses.
