Tolle gives Boston a legitimate chance. He is 2-2 with a 2.45 ERA and a very strong WHIP, and he already beat the Braves once this season by holding them to two runs over eight innings. That matters. Atlanta has seen him, but he has also shown he can handle their lineup if he commands the zone and keeps the ball away from the middle of the plate.

The starting-pitcher matchup is excellent, but Sale still gets the edge. Tolle has been very good, and his earlier start against Atlanta was impressive. Sale is just operating at a different level. The lineup edge belongs to Atlanta. Boston had the louder night Wednesday, but the Braves have the better season-long offense, more power depth, and more reliable run creation. The total is a pass for me at 7.0. At 7.5, I would have leaned Under because of the starter quality. At 7.0, the number is tighter, and Fenway can turn one inning into four runs fast. A 4-2 Braves win fits the matchup, but 5-3 is not hard to imagine either.
