Dodgers vs Braves Best Pick, Prediction and Odds

No bet on the Braves or the Dodgers in Game 4. The Braves become a bet at +126 or any price that pays more, and the Dodgers at +102. Our number leans to Atlanta, by 3.9 points, short of the 5 a bet needs.

DraftKings has the Dodgers at -144 and the Braves at +120. With the margin removed, that is 43.5% for Atlanta. Our number for the Braves is 47.4%. The gap is 3.9 points, and the threshold for a bet is 5.

How the number is built

The method in one clause: each team’s run-based win rate for the 2026 regular season, set against each other, then moved by how often home teams won this season.

The Dodgers scored 801 runs and allowed 600 in 162 games. Runs scored to the power 1.83, divided by that figure plus runs allowed to the power 1.83, gives them a 62.9% run-based rate; they went 100-62. The Braves scored 742 and allowed 626, which gives 57.7%; they went 94-68.

On a neutral field those two rates give the Braves 44.6%. Home teams won 52.9% of regular-season games in 2026, 1,284 wins against 1,145 losses. That edge takes the Braves to 47.4%, which leaves the Dodgers at 52.6%.

Where the series stands

The Dodgers lead this best-of-five National League Division Series 2-1. They won Game 1 at Dodger Stadium, 5-3, and the Braves took Game 2 there, 3-2. On Tuesday 6 October at Truist Park, the Dodgers won Game 3, 3-1.

Game 4 is at Truist Park on Wednesday 7 October. A Dodgers win ends the series and sends them to the National League Championship Series. A Braves win forces Game 5 at Dodger Stadium on Friday 9 October, which ESPN lists as “If Necessary”.

Our number reads none of it. It rests on 162 regular-season games for each team.

The starters

ESPN lists Tyler Glasnow for the Dodgers: a 3.53 ERA and a 0.95 WHIP over 74.0 innings in 13 starts this regular season, with 98 strikeouts and 25 walks. The Braves start Tyler Mahle: a 3.99 ERA and a 1.23 WHIP over 149.0 innings in 27 starts, with 137 strikeouts and 46 walks.

Our number does not use the starters: it is built from what each team did across 162 games each, with every pitcher each used. The market prices them, and our number does not move.

The season behind it

The Dodgers went 49-32 on the road, scoring 5.26 runs a game and allowing 3.46. The Braves went 52-29 at home, scoring 4.78 and allowing 3.90. The method uses the full season for both, because a split halves the sample.

The Braves won five of the six regular-season meetings, including all three at Truist Park from 25 to 27 August, each by one run. Six games is too few to mean anything, and the method leaves them out.

The price

The Braves opened at +112 and the Dodgers at -135. Read at 03:50 UTC on 7 October, DraftKings via ESPN, they were +120 and -144. The market has moved further towards Los Angeles since the open.

The market’s figure is the moneyline with the margin taken out. Here the margin is 4.5 points.

Pick: pass on the moneyline

No bet at Braves +120 or Dodgers -144. Our number for the Braves is 47.4%, the market’s is 43.5%, and a 3.9-point gap is short of the 5-point threshold. On the Dodgers side the market is above our number, at 56.5% against 52.6%.

The Braves become a bet at +126 or any price that pays more, measured with today’s margin taken out. The Dodgers would need +102. Between those two prices, it is a pass.

What changes it

The price first. A Braves price of +126 or longer makes this a bet on Atlanta; the read above is the night before first pitch, so check it again.

Then the lineups. A season of runs says how these two teams played from March to September, and nothing on this page says who is in either lineup. Check them before you bet.

The total

The total is 7.5, up from an opening 7, with the over at +104 and the under at -125. Pass on the total.

Over the season, 92 of 162 Braves games went over 7.5, and 84 of 162 Dodgers games. Those games were started by every pitcher in both rotations. A postseason total is set for the two starters named, so we pass on every postseason total, this one included.
