Bayer Leverkusen vs Mainz Best Pick, Prediction and Odds
Bet Bayer Leverkusen at +115. The bet holds down to -103. Our number has them winning at Mainz 52.3% of the time; the market has 43.2%.
Leverkusen are +115 at DraftKings, Mainz +190 and the draw +275. The book’s margin on those three prices is 7.7 points. Taken out, the market gives Leverkusen 43.2%, Mainz 32.0% and the draw 24.8%. Our number gives Leverkusen 52.3%, Mainz 24.4% and the draw 23.3%.
The gap on Leverkusen is 9.1 points. An outcome is a bet when our chance is at least 5 points above the market’s, and when more than one clears it, the widest gap wins. Only Leverkusen clears it here. Mainz sit 7.6 points below the market, the draw 1.5 below.
How the number is built
Each side gets expected goals: the league’s average for a team at that venue, times the side’s scoring rate there, times the opponent’s conceding rate at the other venue, each rate measured against the league average. A Poisson distribution on the two figures gives home, draw and away.
Both numbers come from last season. Mainz have played two home games in 2026-27 and Leverkusen two away games, short of the six the method needs, so each side takes its 2025-26 record at the same venue, measured against 2025-26 Bundesliga averages: 1.78 goals a game for the home side and 1.46 for the away side.
Mainz at home in 2025-26 scored 1.24 a game and conceded 1.47 over 17 games. Leverkusen away scored 1.76 and conceded 1.65 over 17. That gives Leverkusen 1.78 expected goals and Mainz 1.14.
Leverkusen’s scoring rate away was 1.21 times the league average. Mainz conceded at home at 1.01 times it. Mainz’s scoring at home was 0.69 of the average, against a Leverkusen defence that conceded away at 0.93 of it. The lean comes from both halves.
The table, this season and last
After four games Leverkusen are 5th of 18 with seven points, 2-1-1, ten scored and five conceded. Mainz are 6th, also on seven, 2-1-1, ten scored and six conceded. Last season Leverkusen finished 6th with 59 points, 17-8-9. Mainz finished 10th with 40, 10-10-14.
The case against is this season’s split. Leverkusen have not won away yet: a draw and a loss, four scored and five conceded. Mainz have not won at home either, a draw and a loss. Both teams’ wins came at the other venue. Two games at each venue are why the number leans on last season, and they say little in either direction.
Pick: Bayer Leverkusen +115
Leverkusen to win, at +115 now. It stays a bet down to -103. Shorter than that, the gap falls under 5 points and it is a pass.
What changes it
The price. Mainz would need +379 or longer to become a bet, and the draw +408. Neither is close.
This page states nothing about either lineup on 10 October. Check the lineups before you bet.
The total
The total is 3.5, over +110 and under -140. With the margin out, the market has the over at 44.9%. Our number has 33.6%, 11.3 points lower. That is reference only: this page never bets the total.

The last meetings
