Overs have been the trend thus far this NHL season as 53.1 percent of non-overtime games have seen the total go Over.
Surprisingly, 55.7 percent of all overtime games this season have seen the Under hit. Ottawa and the New York Rangers have the highest Under percentage this season. Both teams have seen the Under hit in 31 of their games thus far.
The Florida Panthers are the NHL’s top-scoring team averaging 4.12 goals per game. The Panthers also have played the second-highest number – 31 – of Overs this season. Will that trend continue tonight? Here are the top NHL Over/Under picks for Tuesday, February 22, 2022.
Islanders vs. Kraken Game Total
Islanders vs. Kraken Prediction
Pick: UNDER 5.5
Seattle isn’t the worst team in the NHL, but they’re close. They rank 28th in goals per game. Their opponent tonight – the New York Islanders – are actually even worse when it comes to scoring.
The Islanders rank 29th averaging just 2.4 goals per game. Tonight’s game goes Under because neither team is all that prolific at scoring, and the Islanders are actually very good defensively.
With Semyon Varlamov in goal, the Islanders are fifth in the NHL in goals against allowing 2.49 per game. With that defense and each team’s scoring limitations, this game goes Under the total.
Predators vs. Panthers Game Total
Predators vs. Panthers Prediction
Pick: OVER 6.5
As mentioned, the Panthers are the NHL’s highest-scoring team. The Predators are 14th averaging 3.0 goals per game. Nashville has lost four straight and scored a total of nine goals in those four losses. Florida is averaging 4.3 goals per game over its last ten and has scored five or more goals in three of its last five games.
The total has gone Over in 31 of Florida’s 50 games this season and in seven of its last ten. The Over is 29-21 in Nashville’s games this season. The last time these two teams played Florida won 7-4.

Wild vs. Senators Game Total
Pick: OVER 6
Minnesota has been one of the top scoring teams in the NHL averaging 3.8 goals per game, which is third overall.
Ottawa, on the other hand, is 26th in goals scored per game. They also average fewer than 30 shots per game. That could be a problem in getting Over the total tonight, but this series historically sees a lot of goals.
The Over has hit in four of the last five. The final scores in those games were 5-4, 7-2, 4-3, and 6-4. The total has gone Over in four of the Wild’s last five games and 29 of its 47 games this season.
Maple Leafs vs. Blue Jackets Game Total
Maple Leafs vs. Blue Jackets Prediction
Pick: OVER 6.5
The Maple Leafs are the fourth-highest scoring team in the NHL averaging 3.6 goals per game. Toronto has scored 9 goals in its last three games. In two of those three games, at least seven goals were scored. Columbus comes in with the second-worst defense in the NHL. The Blue Jackets give up 3.49 goals per game. They have actually won their last two games scoring seven goals in each. That’s not typical of the Blue Jackets though.
Columbus is 12th in scoring too, averaging 3.3 goals per game. When Toronto and Columbus played in December, the Maple Leafs won 5-4 and three of the last four head-to-head meetings have seen at least seven goals scored.
