The Del Mar $100,000 Bing Crosby Stakes reads like a featured attraction with a high- numbered graded stakes events over the weekend. This Grade 1 sprint leads the way with a wide variety of entertainment options.
The Bear’s Dens Stakes is now on tap from Gulfstream Park and the Ben’s Cat Stakes is available from Laurel Park. The Grade 2 Jim Dandy is live from Saratoga Race Course. A Woodbine race is set for Saturday is the Niagara Stakes.
Also Saturday night at Del Mar Racetrack, the Grade 2 San Diego Handicap takes place. A few of the Thoroughbred horses mentioned includes Country Grammar, Tripoli and Mandaloun.
I have released the Grade 1 Bing Crosby Stakes for my trifecta play with American Theorem, Principle Cardo and Desmond Doss making this list.
Win: American Theorem
While a natural sprinter, American Theorem was a surprise in working the first-place showing over seven furlongs in the Grade 2 Triple Bend Stakes at Santa Anita Park. He ended the season as the four-year old by taking second at Los Altamonte in a six-furlong race.
Trained by George Papaprodromout, the five-year horse has a sprinter-type quality. American Theorem has no problems living down the pedigree with American Pharoah living up to the father. The son makes it proud about one of the things to bring into the legacy.
Place: Principle Carlo

A six-year California-bred horse will earn rematch with American Theorem just by competing in this race. Principle Carlo posted second place at Triple Bend in Santa Anita Park last May 29. He added a first or second posting for five of the six races other the three years.
Principle Carlo makes a fit for a pair up with American Theorem in a first-second series. His calling card is a fine veterans sprinter. Trainer Librado Barocio has made a mark with the proceedings. His calling card is to find out what makes it tick.
Show: Desmond Doss
Winning the race the day before, May 28 seems like a day to remember for this horse. Desmond Doss was in the money in three of the last five races. The Santa Anita Park first- place finish was the only time this year. He raced seven times in 2021 and landed in the money in four contests.
Desmond Doss raced both dirt and turf tracks over the time of this course. He raced both sprint and full-length circuits. Behind it all, trainer Steven Miyadi made it his job for making this work. While crossing the line in the No. 1 position, he does have the rare opportunity to shake up the running order in this race.
