Furthermore, the Eagles have won six games in a row over the Bears. Their last meeting came in December 2022, where Philly won 25-20. The Eagles are 5-2 SU in their last seven home games against Chicago, which includes winning the last three in a row.
Black Friday Predictions
Let’s take a closer look at the Black Friday matchup and make some early predictions:
Chicago Bears Black Friday Outlook
The Chicago Bears had one of the more active offseasons in the league. They started by hiring hotshot Ben Johnson away from the NFC North’s powerhouse Detroit Lions to replace the hapless Matt Eberflus on the sidelines.
Johnson was the hottest candidate on the coaching market in light of the job he did spearheading the Detroit Lions’ explosive offense, and it’ll be fascinating to see what kind of ingenuity he brings to a Bears offense that was sorely lacking in just about every facet of the game a season ago.
On offense, they added center Drew Dalman and wideout Olamide Zaccheaus and bolstered their backfield with the addition of Travis Homer. The signing of Joe Thuney on the offensive line could be a game-changer, especially if the Bears want to commit to a more physical identity.
Defensively, Chicago made some splashy moves, including the signings of Grady Jarrett and Dayo Odeyingbo. These additions should significantly improve their ability to pressure the quarterback, something they struggled with in 2024. The jury is still out on Caleb Williams after his inconsistent performance as a rookie, but few first-year QBs show up and dominate the NFL immediately.
Williams’ partnership with Rome Odunze should continue to blossom. We’ll see if they can get more out of the running game after D’Andre Swift struggled in his first year in town, but there’s reason for optimism in Chicago after a disappointing finish a season ago.
Philadelphia Eagles Black Friday Outlook
The Philadelphia Eagles parted ways with a few veterans this spring, but they restocked with speed and versatility. Key additions include pass rushers Josh Uche and Azeez Ojulari, as well as cornerback Adoree’ Jackson. On offense, Philly added AJ Dillon to its running back rotation and TE Kylen Granson to give Jalen Hurts another short-yardage option.
While the core of this team remains intact, it’s the retooled defense that may define their ceiling in 2025. Last year, Philly could do no wrong in the NFC East and NFC Playoffs en route to a fairly easy championship run.
Hurts, Saquon Barkley, AJ Brown, and DeVonta Smith give Philly arguably the league’s most dynamic offense. The next time opposing defenses figure out how to stop the tush push will be the first.
As is the case for every team, health will be paramount. The Eagles were able to keep their stars healthy last season, but that hasn’t always been easy for Barkley over the years. After he rushed for 2,005 yards last season, it’ll be interesting to see if the Birds decide to manage his workload in an attempt to make sure he’ll be on the field come playoff time.
Who Wins The Black Friday Game: Bears or Eagles?
Philadelphia has one of the best rosters in the NFC Conference. Plus, playing at home has always been a big advantage for them. That said, Chicago’s upgraded pass rush and improved offensive line could keep this one closer than expected.
Because we’re still months from kickoff, there’s certainly merit to taking a stab at the Bears to cover the 7-point spread on the road. The gulf in quality between the two teams was gargantuan last year, however. If both teams manage to stay healthy heading into this one, it’s fair to assume the Eagles will be heavily favored on home turf.
Bet the Birds to cover.
Bet: Philadelphia Eagles (-310), Eagles -7 (-110), Under 46.5 (-110)
Best Bets For Black Friday Football
The best bets for Black Friday are as follows:
- Philadelphia Eagles (-310)
At the time of this Black Friday game preview, it’s clear that the Philadelphia Eagles are the better team in this post-turkey day apocalypse of a game.
