As we’ve been reporting, the Big 12 will attempt to play a complete season in 2020, albeit it’ll be a bit different than usual. I’m going to explain what to expect for the upcoming season.
Each team in the Big 12 will play one non-conference game this season. The non-conference schedule is slated to begin on September 12th and then conference play begins on September 26th.
The Big 12 conference schedule is unchanged. The ten teams play against each other once and the top two teams after conference play advance to the Big 12 Championship Game.
This year’s Big 12 Championship Game is scheduled for December 12th at AT&T Stadium in Dallas, Texas. Let’s hope the Big 12 can get the full season in without too many problems.
Odds to Win the Big 12 Championship 2020
The Oklahoma Sooners are odds-on favorites to win the Big 12 in 2020.
There’s a good reason for that. Oklahoma have dominated the Big 12. The Sooners have made 11 appearances in the Big 12 Championship Game – winning ten and losing just once. If the Sooners can stay healthy, they’re the top contender to win the conference.
The next closest team in Big 12 Championship appearances is Texas (6 / 3-3 record).
Since the Big 12 moved away from divisions to a round-robin conference schedule, the Sooners have won all three Big 12 Championships. Oklahoma defeated TCU (41-17) in 2017, Texas (39-27) in 2018 and Baylor (30-23) in 2019. Will anyone be able to dethrone the Sooners in 2020?

Who Will Win the Big 12 Football Championship in 2020?
The Sooners are the team to beat. Lincoln Riley has gone 36-6 in three years with OU.
Spencer Rattler is expected to start at QB as a redshirt freshman for the Sooners. There may be some growing pains early on, but they have a few weeks to get things right before Texas on October 10th.
There are concerns at WR as well after losing CeeDee Lamb to the NFL. Charleston Rambo hauled in 43 receptions for 743 yards and 5 TDs in 2019, but there’s little depth behind him.
The good news, is the offensive line returns four starters and will set the tone.
The Texas Longhorns are always hyped to contend and this year Tom Herman is on the hot seat. He has brought in seven new assistant coaches, including new offensive and defensive coordinators.
Sam Ehlinger brings experience at the QB position, but he’s lacking weapons. WR Devin Duvernay, who led the team in receiving yards in 2019 (1386 yards), is gone. There could be some guys who produce, but no one that’s proven. However, the run game should be a strong point.
Keaontay Ingram (853 rushing yards in 2019) is back and five-star freshman Bijan Robinson should be able to produce quickly. With what should be an improved defense, the Longhorns should improve upon there 8-5 (5-4 Big 12) record in 2019, but I wouldn’t bet on them to win the Big 12.

My best value pick to win the Big 12 are the Oklahoma State Cowboys (+550).
This could be the year for the Cowboys.
With offensive question marks on the Sooners and Longhorns, the Cowboys may be able to run up the scores enough to win in 2020. They return RB Chuba Hubbard (2094 rushing yards and 21 TDs in 2019) and WR Tylan Wallace (903 receiving yards and 8 TDs in 2019).
They have lots of talent, but it’ll come down to whether QB Spencer Sanders improves.
