What a week 6 of SEC football! Alabama lost to Texas A&M and lost the top spot in the nation. That spot was taken by Georgia who downed Auburn which kicked the Tigers out of the top-25. And, Kentucky and Tennesse both won making the SEC divisions even tighter than last week.
Now Georgia sits atop the national rankings with a host of schools, such as Iowa, looking to take over the top spot. It’s simple for several SEC teams – if they want to stay at the top of the rankings then they have to win and win big. Georgia will have to crush Kentucky if they want to stay No. 1 in the polls. And, Alabama will have to beat Mississippi dramatically if they want to start to make their way back towards the No. 1 spot.
And there are several other great SEC matchups in week 7 to look forward to such as the Tennessee and Ole Miss game. Lane Kiffin returns as head coach to Knoxville to take on his former Volunteers and Florida, now ranked No. 20, is going up against rival LSU in their traditional coastal battle.

Kentucky, now ranked 11th in the country, travels to No 1 Georgia this weekend in a matchup that will either solidify the Bulldog’s hold on the No. 1 spot or catapult the Wildcats up the rankings. This game has implications for several teams in the top ten as well as the SEC. Both teams are at the top of the SEC East with identical 4-0 conference play and being 6-0 overall. Alabama vs. Mississippi State Week 7 Preview
When: Saturday, October 16 at 7:00 p.m. on ESPN
Odds: Alabama -17.5 (110) vs Mississippi State +17.5 (110)
This is a bounce-back weekend for Alabama after the loss last week to Texas A&M on the road. The Crimson Tide dropped from the No. 1 spot to 5th in the rankings. Mississippi State is 1-1 in SEC play and 3-2 overall. They’ve had an up and down season so far with a big win over Texas A&M two weeks ago but a head-scratching loss to Memphis the week prior. The problem with this game is that Mississippi State may be walking into a Nick Saban buzzsaw following his team’s loss to Texas A&M last week. Mississippi State can play strong defense at times but it probably won’t be enough to keep the Alabama offense in check Saturday night. But then again… Texas A&M.
Best Bet: Mississippi State +17.5 (110)
Ole Miss vs. Tennessee Week 7 Preview
When: Saturday, October 16 at 7:30 p.m. on CBS
Odds: Ole Miss -3 (105) vs Tennessee +3 (115)
This game is getting bigger as the weekend approaches. UT has sold out Neyland stadium at over 102,000 fans. It’s the first time since 2017 and may have something to do with Lane Kiffin, former Vols head coach, returning with his new team Ole Miss. Plus, Kiffin is already trolling Vol fans on social media. Ole Miss is ranked No. 13 while UT is unranked. The Vols have a chance to show that their high-powered offense will continue to work. On the flip side, Ole Miss cranked out 52 points against Arkansas but the Razorbacks scored 51. The key to this game will be the Vol’s defense.
Best Bet: Ole Miss -3 (105)

Auburn vs. Arkansas Week 7 Preview
When: Saturday, October 16 at 12:00 p.m. on CBS
Odds: Auburn +3.5 (110) vs Arkansas -3.5 (110)
Auburn was bumped out of the top 25 rankings last weekend following their hard loss to Georgia. Arkansas has some big wins on the season but is coming off close losses to both Georgia and Ole Miss. Questions about their No. 17 ranking will probably make the play a tough game. The same goes for Auburn, the Tigers want to prove they deserve to be back in the rankings. The key for Auburn is putting together a game plan for Bo Nix that can be used for a full game.
Best Bet: Arkansas -3.5 (110)
Florida vs. LSU Week 7 Preview
When: Saturday, October 16 at 12:00 p.m. on ESPN
Odds: Florida -10.5 (110) vs LSU -10.5 (110)
LSU has beaten Florida three of the last four times they’ve played but the Tigers seem to be suffering issues on both sides of the ball and are a bit inconsistent. Both offenses are capable of putting up points in spurts. Florida comes into the game following a 42-0 win over Vanderbilt last week but LSU will be a tougher test for the Gator’s defense than the Commodores.
Best Bet: Florida -10.5 (110)
Texas A&M vs. Missouri Week 7 Preview

Odds: Texas A&M -8.5 (110) vs Missouri +8.5 (110)
Texas A&M jumped back into the top 25 last week to the No. 21 spot following their win against Alabama. Missouri is coming off a win to North Texas. The problem is that win was 48-35 with North Texas running off 21 points in the fourth against the Mizzo defense.
Best Bet: Missouri +8.5 (110)

South Carolina, 0-3 in SEC play, is a heavy favorite against Vanderbilt this weekend when the ‘Dores come to town. The Gamecocks are looking to put things back on track after they took a 45-20 beating from Tennessee last week. The Vols ran up 28 points in the first 15 minutes of play.
