The 2022 FIFA World Cup is around four-and-a-half months away, and several teams are beginning to take center stage in pre-tournament talks.
Where to Bet on the FIFA World Cup
France will be looking to repeat as champions after suffering a disappointing defeat early in the 202 European Championships, while Italy, the victors in the same competition, will miss the event after failing to qualify.
Here is a look at the betting favorites and what to expect from them.
Top Contenders to Win the 2022 FIFA World Cup
Brazil (+500)
Brazil had a few down years as a nation on the international scale but has come roaring back thanks to a deep squad with excellent balance throughout the pitch.
They have one of the world’s most prolific attackers in Neymar opposite a budding talisman in Raphinha, one of the steadiest midfield pivots in the world in Fabinho and Casemior, and finally, a veteran and talented defense, featuring names such as Thiago Silva, Marquinhos, and Alisson Becker.
The Brazilians are also deep in every position on the pitch and will be able to rotate and make substitutions with the other elite nations, but overall, their experience could be their greatest asset in the competition.
France (+550)
The once-clear-cut best team in the world is now second in the list of odds, following their poor performance at the Euros.
France will start the presumptive Ballon d’Or winner, Karim Benzema, in the center of its attack, with the dangerous Kylian Mbappe coming in off the left side of the attack. The midfield could take on a number of looks but is almost guaranteed to feature Paul Pogba and N’Golo Kante, while the defense is the weakest of the units.
The French play with speed and aggression but are also clinical in front of goal, which is why they are such an enigma for teams to break down and have such great odds of winning the World Cup.
England (+700)

England has been victimized by being overhyped in recent years, but every passing year with their current crop of players is their net-best chance at winning a major competition.
Captain Harry Kane and winger Raheem Sterling provide a majority of the offensive threat, while young and talented midfielders such as Mason Mount, Declan Rice, Jude Bellingham, and Phil Foden offer the balance and support that the English team has been missing.
Their defense is troubling on paper but seems to always rise to the occasion on the international level.
Argentina (+700)
Argentina does not have as great of an overall squad as the other top nations, but they have Lionel Messi, which is enough in and of itself to keep them relevant.
The Argentines are also coming off of a successful Copa America journey and have proven that they can hold up in sustained competitions.
Spain (+750)
This Spain team is not the same tiki-taka outfit as past generations— instead, it is youthful and more athletic, with dynamic wingers and ball-carriers on the wings and creative midfielders in the center of the park.
Their defense could suffer against the elite of the elite, and they do not have a true talisman up front, both of which are major concerns.
2022 FIFA World Cup Winner Pick
Best Bet: France (+550)
We’re siding with France in the outright winner futures market at the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
They’re strong on both ends of the field and after struggling at the Euros, we expect the French side to perform much better at the FIFA World Cup later this year.
