Five weeks remain in this CFL season. Now, more so than at any point this season, every game truly matters. With only one spot in the postseason clinched and nobody eliminated, the postseason picture is still being formed.
Two eastern division games with one western showdown, this week will be wild! Check out the three CFL games this week.
Hamilton Tiger-Cats vs. Montréal Alouettes
Spread: Alouettes -2.5 / Total: 52.5 Points
Best Bet: Alouettes -2.5
The week starts in La belle province as the Hamilton Tiger-Cats (4-9) play against the Montreal Alouettes (5-7). The season series is evenly set at 1-1.
Both of these teams are the only clubs that have taken down Winnipeg, so major props to both clubs. However, the Alouettes are fresh off a bye and a far better team. Trevor Harris and his offense looks to gain the traction they had earlier in the year.
The defense had a great week against BC and will find some boom in back-to-back weeks! Dane Evans had a great week last week, but he hardly produces two weeks in a row.
These two teams played back in week 11 and the Alouettes scored 11 unanswered points to win the game (29-28). It’ll likely be another close game, but we’re betting on the Alouettes to cover.
Toronto Argonauts vs. Ottawa Redblacks
Spread: Argonauts -2.5 / Total: 46.5 Points
Best Bet: Argonauts -2.5
The Saturday doubleheader starts with the battle of Ontario as the Toronto Argonauts (7-5) head to the nation’s capital to play against the Ottawa Redblacks (3-9). The season series is set at 1-1.
Judging by their record, this pick should not be a surprise. The Argonauts have gotten hot at the right time, as they have won three straight match-ups. The Redblacks cannot find any form of consistency, but the Argos have done just that.
Beyond Jaelon Acklin, this Redblacks team has been one of, if not, the worst, team in Canadian football. McLeod Bethel-Thompson and his offense has been great for Toronto. I cannot say the same for the Redblacks offense.
Calgary Stampeders vs. BC Lions
Spread: Lions -1.5 / Total: 55.5 Points
Best Bet: Lions -1.5
Our week concludes with the best in the West playing in Vancouver. Last week’s rematch gets a whole new light. The Calgary Stampeders (8-5) face the BC Lions (9-3). The Lions lead the season series 2-0.
Vernon Adams Jr. did a great job with this team. Without Nathan Rourke, he has taken over and beat a tough Stampeders team. This was yet another instant classic and will likely see more of the same success from both sides. Stamps QB Jake Maier barely fell short last week, but his slow starts have led them into this position.
