Dave’s Top 10 Best Bets for NFL Week 5

A pair of pushes ended my three-week winning streak with my Top 10 NFL picks for Scores & Stats. I went 4-4-2 with my NFL picks in Week 4.

Moving to this week’s games, the NFL schedule is a bit lighter, as the Packers/Lions are on a bye week. Here are the 10 bets I like the most.

Carolina Panthers at Atlanta Falcons Pick: OVER 54½

Carolina would bury its NFC South rivals with a win on Sunday. The Falcons are 0-4 straight-up and 1-3 against the spread. I do like the Panthers plus 2½ points on the road but I am going with the OVER. It has gone OVER in seven of Carolina’s last 10 games.

Jacksonville Jaguars at Houston Texans Pick: Houston -6

Both teams need a SU moneyline win in this AFC South matchup. I have the Texans getting their first victory of the year after a brutal start to the season even though their head coach just got fired. They are 10-2 SU in their last 12 games against Jacksonville.

Cincinnati Bengals at Baltimore Ravens: Cincinnati +13½

Sticking with head-to-head division matchups, I think the Bengals have a chance to keep this game closer than the current spread. They are 3-0-1 ATS in their first four games. Cincinnati is 5-1 ATS in its last six road games against Baltimore.

Arizona Cardinals at New York Jets Pick: Arizona -7

A fast start has turned into a 2-2 record (SU and ATS) for Arizona. This is an excellent chance to move back above .500 against one of the worst teams in the league on either side of the ball. The Jets are also 0-4 ATS in their first four losses.

Las Vegas Raiders at Kansas City Chiefs Pick: OVER 56½

Keeping this game closer than 12½ points on the road will be a big challenge for Las Vegas. However, the Raiders should be able to score enough points to take this AFC West tilt OVER the game total line.

Los Angeles Rams at Washington Football Team Pick: UNDER 45

The Rams have battled their way to a 3-1 SU (2-2 ATS) with both luck and skill. Washington has been as bad as everyone expected following a surprising Week 1 win. Los Angeles should be able to cover eight points on the road but the UNDER is a safer play.

Philadelphia Eagles at Pittsburgh Steelers Pick: Philadelphia +7

The Eagles are probably the best of the worst in the NFL East. Last week’s big road win against San Francisco could change their fortunes. The unexpected week off could cause some Pittsburgh rust in Steel City.

New York Giants at Dallas Cowboys Pick: New York +9½

The Giants are a bad team and they know it. The Cowboys are trying to make some kind of sense out of their 1-3 SU (0-4 ATS) start. This is still a bitter division rivalry and New York is not about the rollover because Dallas needs a win.

Indianapolis Colts at Cleveland Browns Pick: OVER 47

The Colts are off to a solid 3-1 start both SU and ATS. They have shown the ability to score points against sketchy defenses. Cleveland is riding a SU three-game winning streak but it almost blew a big lead against Dallas in Sunday’s 49-38 shootout.

Minnesota Vikings at Seattle Seahawks Pick: Seattle -7

This matchup is all about momentum. The Vikings managed to get past Houston last Sunday but the Seahawks are on a serious roll at 4-0 both SU and ATS. Seattle won its last five games against Minnesota SU.
