Major League Baseball is back to wrap up a long workweek with more top-notch action heading into the weekend.
The Boston Red Sox might be starting to figure themselves out after putting together a nice winning stretch, while the Los Angeles Dodgers continue to close in on the league’s best record.
Here are the best bets for Friday.
Chicago White Sox vs. New York Yankees
Best Bet: Yankees ML (-204)
The Yankees have been dominant this season, earning league-best honors with their 28-10 record and getting the business done in every aspect.
The NYY also beat the White Sox in three of four games in an earlier series this season, and their other-worldly crop of batters— headlined by Aaron Judge, Anthony Rizzo, and Giancarlo Stanton— far outweighs the power that Chicago has in its rotation of hitters. Nestor Cortes will get the start for the favorites as he looks to build on a 2-1 record and 1.35 ERA.
The White Sox were expected to completely dominate the American League Central but have faced more resistance than expected, finding themselves in second with a 19-19 record.
Their biggest problem has been consistency, or lack thereof, alternating between winning and losing streaks and leaving fans and bettors alike totally mystified by what is to come next.
Dallas Keuchel will be on the bump, and while this would have restored faith in years past, Chicago’s ace only has a 2-3 record and 5.54 ERA, setting them up for failure against a team that does not need too many opportunities to light up the scoreboard.
Los Angeles Dodgers vs. Philadelphia Phillies
Best Bet: Dodgers ML (-132)

The Dodgers are inevitably inching closer to the Yankees for the best record in baseball and have already usurped the New York Mets for the top spot in the National League.
They lost three of four against this same Phillies team in their penultimate series, only to rebound with four straight wins against their division-rival Arizona Diamondbacks and extending their winning streak to five games.
Southpaw Julio Urias will be on the mound for the visitors, and although he is only 2-3 with a 3.00 ERA thus far, he is a born winner, posting an MLB record of 34-13, and he will likely not be held down for too long.
The Phillies have tons of talent but are only 18-20 on the season, good for second place in the NL East; they are most proficient in the box via an assembly of talented batters, but their defensive and pitching lulls have rendered them a sub-.500 team.
Recent history is on their side following the three-out-of-four series win against L.A., but they then turned around and lost two of three to the San Diego Padres. Ranger Suarez (4-1, 3.72 ERA) is expected to start at home.
New York Mets vs. Colorado Rockies
Best Bet: Rockies ML (+108)
Score one for the underdogs— the Colorado Rockies are primed to steal a game at home. They are playing at altitude, which means that offensive dominance will outweigh defensive prowess, and although the Mets certainly have a capable offense, the Rockies play very well at home, where they are 13-9.
The Mets may still be reeling from the news that Max Scherzer is out for six-eight weeks, and their recent drop in form cold open the door to Colorado sneaking in a win at home. Judge bets for the rest of the series based on how game one ends.
