With a 2-1 loss to Toronto last week, Philadelphia was knocked from the ranks of the unbeaten. The Union was the last team in MLS without a loss.
Philadelphia will be in action this week looking to get back on track. LAFC sits atop the Western Conference with 16 points, the same as Philadelphia in the East.
The best of the best are beginning to rise to the top. With a full slate of matches this week, these are the top MLS predictions for Saturday, April 23rd 2022.
Philadelphia vs. Montreal
Pick: PHILADELHIA -150
The Philadelphia Union suffered their first loss of the season last week falling to Toronto 2-1 on the road. This week, the Union gets Montreal CF.
Montreal has won three straight winning by a single goal in each match. They beat Vancouver, New York, and Cincinnati which have a combined five wins among them.
Philadelphia has won its last three straight at home and the Union has already beaten Montreal once this season. Philadelphia won 2-1 back on March 5 in Montreal.
The Union is the top team in the East and they are playing at home.
DC United vs. New England
Pick: DC UNITED +125
After winning the first two matches of season and recording consecutive clean sheets in the process, DC United has lost four in a row.
New England is just 2-1-4 this season and they also had a stretch of four straight losses. The Revolution managed a 2-1 win over expansion Charlotte last week to end their four-game skid.
DC United has to win a game sometime. Playing at home is a huge advantage in MLS play. That will be the edge DC needs to get the win here.
San Jose vs. Seattle
Pick: SAN JOSE +155
The Earthquakes are going to win sometime. Why not this Saturday? San Jose has yet to win a match this season. They are 0-3-4 in seven matches thus far.
Their opponent, Seattle, has been to the MLS Cup finals in four of the past six seasons. But, the Sounders are off to a very slow start in 2022. They have just two wins and are 2-1-3 overall.
Seattle won 3-1 the last time they visited San Jose. That was last September. The Earthquakes will be looking to avenge that loss.
Despite having zero wins, San Jose ranks seventh in average possession time compared to Seattle which ranks 17th. That possession time will translate into a San Jose victory.
Austin FC vs. Vancouver
Pick: AUSTIN -165
Consecutive wins over DC and MIN have pushed Austin into second place in the West. The club is now 4- 2-1 with 14 points. Austin is one of the top scoring teams in the league. They are tied with LAFC with 17 goals.
Austin FC is fourth in average possession time. If not for San Jose, Vancouver would be last in the West with just four points and a 1-1-5 record.
Part of the Whitecaps’ problem is possession. They rank 23rd in average possession time, which has translated into six goals in seven matches.
With Austin playing at home, back the home favorite.
