MLS Predictions for Saturday, July 9th 2022

From the beginning of the 2022 MLS season, the Los Angeles football club has been the favorite to win the MLS Cup.

MLS Bookies

LAFC lost a 1-0 decision to Vancouver last week but still has the most wins (11) and highest point total (36) in MLS. The club will face its city rival the Los Angeles Galaxy this week on Friday night. The Galaxy (8-3-6) have fallen on hard times as more of the league’s superstars like Gareth Bale are joining LAFC.

The LAFC-LA Galaxy kicks off a weekend full of MLS action. Here are the best MLS predictions for Saturday, July 9th 2022.

New York City FC vs. New England Revolution

Pick: NYCFC -155

New York City FC has just one loss in its last 10 MLS matches. The club has not won a match since May 28 when they beat Minnesota 1-0. NYCFC is tied for third in the East Division standings.

What’s interesting is that New York City has the second-highest – highest in the East – in MLS at +14. Only LAFC is higher at +16. NYCFC is also 6-3-1 at home this season which gives them another advantage.

The Revolution (6-7-5)are 2-3-3 in road matches this season. New England hasn’t lost in its last ten matches. Six of its seven draws have come over their last ten matches.

At home, the edge goes to New York City.

How to Bet on MLS

Seattle Sounders vs. Portland Timbers

Pick: SEATTLE -120

Portland has been a disappointment this season in MLS. They are currently 5-8-6 and have just three wins in their last 10 matches. The Timbers are fourth from the bottom of the West Division standings and have just one more win than last-place Sporting Kansas City.

Seattle (8-2-7) has won two of its last three matches, but one victory was over Sporting KC and the other was a 2-0 shutout win over Toronto last week. Toronto is just one point better than the East Division’s last-place team, Chicago Fire FC.

The road team has won the last three matches in this series. The two teams played in Seattle last August and the Timbers recorded a 2-0 shutout win. This is a different year and the Sounders are simply better.

Asian Handicap Betting

Atlanta United vs. Austin FC

Pick: AUSTIN FC +290

hqdefault

One of the newer teams in MLS, Austin FC has enjoyed a stellar season thus far. Through 18 games, Austin is second in the West Division with 10 wins, just one behind LAFC.

Austin has won three of its last four matches – one draw – and has won six of 10 matches on the road. Atlanta, meanwhile, is 11th in the East. They have a record of 5-5-7 and rank 14 points behind Austin overall. With the Texans road record and their recent streak, Austin wins on the road.

Double Chance Betting Guide

CF Montreal vs. Sporting Kansas City

Pick: CF MONTREAL -120

CF Montreal is tied for third in the East and is just three points behind first place New York Red Bulls. Their opponent this week – Sporting Kansas City – is dead last in the West.

In fact, Sporting Kansas City is the worst team in the MLS. They have just four wins in 19 games and an MLS-low of 16 points. Sporting KC also has the worst goal differential in MLS. They have scored 19 times but have given up 33 for differential of minus-17.

CF Montreal has won nine of its previous 14 matches and they only have two draws for the season. Back the Canadians.

MLS Predictions

Real Salt Lake vs. Colorado Rapids

Pick: REAL SALT LAKE -105

Like the other MLS predictions here, the short favorite looks solid. Real Salt Lake sits in third place in the West while Colorado is 12th. The teams are separated by 10 points.

Somehow, the Rapids have managed to win five matches scoring only 19 goals in their 17 games thus far. Colorado has lost three of its last four. The other match was a draw with NYC and they haven’t won since May 22.

Real Salt Lake is the better team here.
