Week seven is in the books, and what a week it was. Alabama roared back with a vengeance, LSU did exactly what we thought they would do, and BYU took a complete step back in Waco. Purdue is the biggest surprise from last week, possibly, we should say, Iowa is the biggest surprise.
As bad as Iowa looked, and as good as Purdue looked, we are not about to crown the Boilermakers and throw out Iowa with last week’s stale bread. This happens in the Big Ten, it’s all part of the gig in that conference. Close to any team can beat any other team on any given day. We have a more than fantastic lineup of Top 25 games this week.
There will be a surprise or two, and there will no doubt be some fantastic football that’s worthy of your betting time. Cal the offshore bookmaker and find that perfect college football bonus. It’s time to get paid!
#2 Cincinnati (6-0, 5-1-0 ATS) vs. Navy (1-5, 3-3-0 ATS)

The Cincinnati Bearcats know what they have to do, and the task is simple, win out. They must beat bad team big and win out the rest of the way. Ridder has taken his team to the best ranking in the history of the program; however, this kid is balanced, and he knows ever opponent matters. Navy has nothing in the arsenal to throw at the Bearcats and things will get ugly. We expect this game to be an easy cover, better yet, we expect the Bearcats to be covering at halftime and never look back. Lay this -28 and over 48.5.

#3 Oklahoma (7-0, 3-4-0 ATS) vs. Kansas (1-5, 0-6-0 ATS)

Every year the Big 12 sees its battles and upsets. It seems that Oklahoma is often involved in those upsets, on the losing end. How many national championships have they racked up over the last 10- seasons? You see what we mean? That’s NOT going to happen today, not in this game, not in Kansas, not with Dorothy, not in a tornado! The sooners will bring the tornado and they will demolish Kansas. Will they cover 38.5 points on the road? Normally, we hate laying this kind of number on a road team, no matter how bad the home team is. Today, we have no problem with this number. Lay it and get paid!

Northwestern (3-3, 2-4-0 ATS) vs. #6 Michigan (6-0, 5-1-0 ATS)

The Wildcats of Northwestern have not been this bad in a while now. When the Wildcats are bad, they always upset someone. It’s NOT going to be Michigan in the “big house”, not today. Northwestern comes in with a stable enough offensive attack to hang around. We like Michigan big and they will never be in danger, however, we don’t like them laying 23.5. We will take those points, and we believe in a high scoring game with a huge ground attack from Corum and Haskins.

Illinois (2-5, 3-3-1 ATS) vs. #7 Penn State (5-1, 4-2-0 ATS)
Odds: Illinois +24, O/U 46.5

If there was ever a trap game on tap, this may be the one of the day. We are sure that Penn State will win this game but without starting QB Clifford, they must rely on backups Roberson, and Villeux. They have not been special on any level. This game will be dictated from the ground, if there was any danger of Penn State losing, it would be blamed on a bad game plan that didn’t include the run first. That’s not going to happen; however, we don’t believe in the big number today. Illinois is nothing special, but this is a rival game and they want to show up.

#16 Wake Forest (6-0, 2-4-0 ATS) vs. Army (4-2, 3-3-0 ATS)
Odds: Wake Forest -3, ML -160/+140 O/U 52.5

Wake hits the road in hopes of moving on to 7-0. We don’t see the hype with Army. We like Army, they are nice people! Ha, but nice don’t cut it in this game. Wake is tuned up and they belong right where they are and possibly higher on this top 25 list. Army will hang around and be a hassle, and it will be close. There will be no blowouts here. At the end of the day, Hartman and his arm, combined with more than enough weapons on the ground, they win and cover.

Wisconsin (3-3, 2-4-0 ATS) vs. #25 Purdue (4-2, 3-3-0 ATS)
Odds: Wisconsin +3, ML -160/+140, O/U 40

More than a few people overlooked the Boilermakers, today, we are not going to make that mistake, again. Can this team beat the Badgers? Why not? They are at home, and the Badgers are nothing special. Having said that, we recognize this is the Big 10, and in this conference, anything can happen. Purdue has not smelled the top 25 in 14-years, they have good reason to be motivated for this contest. David Bell had a breakout game last week in Iowa, racking up 240 yards receiving, with O’Connell’ 375 passing yards. The Badgers play big defense, this will be a low scoring affair.

#8 Oklahoma State (6-0, 4-2-0 ATS) vs. Iowa State (4-2, 3-3-0 ATS)

It’s wild to look at this matchup and see that Oklahoma State is the underdog, and not by 1, 2 or 3, but by a touchdown. The Cowboys are 6-0, why the disrespect from Vegas? It’s not disrespect, Iowa State has a Nick Saban-Alabama kind of defense and they are stingy. The Cyclones are allowing just 16.3 ppg, 251.3 yards on offense and DE-Will McDonald, has looked like Von Miller with three forced fumbles and 5.5 sacks. This team know how to tackle, they know how to pursue, and they are quick and physical. The Cowboys have a tall order in this one, but we still like them to cover, with a great defense of their own, and a better offense than Iowa State.

#10 Oregon (5-1, 1-5-0 ATS) vs. UCLA (5-2, 5-2-0 ATS)

The Oregon Ducks have not had an easy row to hoe in the PAC 12. The last couple of game have been difficult with an OT loss to Stanford, 24-31, and a close one against Cal, 24-17, which came at the last minute on a goal line stand off. Former Oregon coach Chip Kelly says this is “just another game”, we don’t believe him! This is Chip Kelly the offensive mastermind that saw Oregon put up 70, and 80-point kind of games. He wants this game like no other, and any follower of the PAC 12 know this to be true. Oregon has not won in Pasadena since 2014 and we like UCLA again.
Pick: UCLA -1 and Over 60.5
LSU (4-3, 4-3-0 ATS) vs. #12 Ole Miss (5-1, 3-2-1 ATS)

This game presents so many question and very few solid answers. This is a rich old rival, and we love it, but taking into consideration the soap opera with head coach Orgeron, we don’t like their chances to win. Do they get blown out? Probably not. This game is going to be a high scoring affair that goes tit for tat, right down to the wire. Both, Johnson (QB LSU) and Corral (QB OL Miss) can and will, light it up. Look for a fun one and look for LSU to keep it close with big plays over the top.

Clemson (4-2, 0-6-0 ATS) vs. Pittsburgh (5-1, 5-1-0 ATS)

Don’t forget why the Clemson Tigers have won, and won, and won, and won some more ion the ACC, and well, against anybody, even Alabama. We realize that every dog has its day, and all good things come to an end, but Clemson, are they done? NO, we can’t buy into this notion. This team is coached by the second-best coach of the last 10-years in college football, yes, he has put up 2-losse this season and that’s not a typical Dabo team. Listen, Pitt is really good, and we think they win the game, but we are not willing to bet on it. We MUST play a 7-pont teaser.
Pick: Clemson teasing to +10 and under 41
Tennessee (4-3, 3-4-0 ATS) vs. #4 Alabama (6-1, 4-3-0 ATS)
Odds: Tennessee +25, ML O/U 67

The Tide beat Tennessee last year 48-17, and they will give the Vols another butt whopping just like that one! Alabama will most likely win another championship with one loss on their record. This team fell to the Aggies and that game was a wake-up call. Saban has never lost to Tennessee as head coach of the Tide. This will be another 48-17 kind of game.

San Diego State is a fun team to watch and they are good, very good. This one will be great and will put the Aztec’s ground defense to a big test. Air force has weapons all over the ground in Roberts, Daniels, Davis and it doesn’t stop there. San Diego State may have met its match today. If this were in San Diego, we would lean a bit more that way, but on the road, we like AF’s chances.

This team is solid, and for real. They deserve a top 25 ranking after beating programs such as Illinois, and Memphis. Quarterback Harris has been great with 1600 yards in the air, 14-TD’s and just 3 picks. McCormick has been stellar on the ground, rushing for 778 yards, and 6-TD’s. We don’t doubt this team, however, if we did, we would still pick them today against the spread in this game. They are a 7-point better team then a 2-4 LA Tech, all day, and all night!
Pick: UTSA -7 and Over 59.5
#5 Ohio State (5-1, 3-2-1 ATS) vs. Indiana (2-4, 1-5-0 ATS)

The Hoosiers seem to dig deep for this game every year and we are sure they will again in this one, however, they don’t have enough in the tank. The program in Bloomington was on the rebuild but let’s be honest, they have gone nowhere and in fact, have taken a step back. Ohio State may have a red shirt freshman at the helm, but we still like them in this game.

USC (3-3, 3-3-0 ATS) vs. #13 Notre Dame (5-1, 3-3-0 ATS)

This game is always fun and one that has been played every season since WWII, except last year due to COVID! Well, it’s back, and we do not think it will be all that fun for USC. USC is simply going through too many changes and without a coach, they have lost their balance. This game is not against an unranked opponent, it’s against a very solid Notre Dame. Although, this one could be close most of the way, we see USC running out of fuel in the 4th.

South Carolina (4-3, 3-3-1 ATS) vs. #17 Texas A&M (5-2, 4-3-0 ATS)

Forget about the rumors surrounding Jimbo Fisher, he has the better football team and the Aggies will smack the Gamecocks. The aggies have a balanced attack with a potent offense that puts up 384.4 yards per game, but that’s not where they shine, they shine with a fantastic defense and it will overpower South Carolina. Look for a game that goes over the total simply because the underdog was blown out. We see a 40-10 kind of game.
Pick: Texas A&M -19.5 and Over 45
#19 NC State (5-1, 4-2-0 ATS) vs. Miami (2-4, 2-4-0 ATS)

The Hurricanes suffer another disappointing season, but this game has been a battle for NC State, having lost it’s last three against the Canes. We have to like NC Stat, they have their act together and Miami has no QB, and a depleted defense. We have seen miracles in Miami, and we know this one could be close, but we choose reality over folklore. Leary, Knight, Pearson Jr. and company, they will be too much for the struggling Miami Hurricanes.
Pick: NC State -3.5 and Under 53
Betting the Top-25 is fun because the games are on TV and you can catch the action. This week is going to be an interesting one and there will be some close games and a few blowouts.
