The NHL action continues on Thursday, December 29th, with no fewer than 11 match-ups on the slate. Lucky for you, I have scoured the odds to find the best NHL player props for Thursday’s games.
My NHL picks for Thursday involve some of the league’s top players, including Timo Meier, Bo Horvat and Nikita Kucherov. If you want to land a tasty profit, be sure to check out my recommended player props picks.
Timo Meier – Over 4.5 SOG (+115)
Only one player – David Pastrnak – has recorded more shots on goal than Timo Meier this season. The San Jose Sharks superstar has racked up 165 shots in 36 outings, meaning he averages 4.58 SOG per game in 2022-23.
Across the past six games, Meier has accumulated 28 shots on goal. After notching seven against the Los Angeles Kings and five against the Minnesota Wild, he shouldn’t struggle to register over 4.5 SOG against the lowly Philadelphia Flyers.
Bo Horvat – Over 0.5 Goals (+180)
The Vancouver Canucks head into Thursday’s contest against the Winnipeg Jets on a three-game winning streak. Thanks largely to the exploits of Bo Horvat, Vancouver is headed in the right direction again.
After scoring two goals against the Edmonton Oilers, Horvat netted another double against San Jose. Granted, the Canucks won’t find life easy against the Jets, but Horvat will be confident of extending his scoring streak.
Auston Matthews – Over 4.5 SOG (-135)
Maple Leafs vs. Coyotes Predictions
Auston Matthews finds himself fourth on the league’s SOG leaderboard, having chalked up 156 shots on goal in 35 outings. As a result, the Toronto Maple Leafs star averages 4.46 SOG this season.
On Thursday, the Maples Leafs face the Arizona Coyotes, who find themselves second from bottom in the Central Division. Since Toronto sits second in the Atlantic Division, Matthews looks destined to notch over 4.5 SOG at Mullett Arena.
Nikita Kucherov – Over 0.5 Assists (-150)
Rangers vs. Lightning Predictions
Nikita Kucherov has registered more assists than any other player in the NHL this season. The iconic Russian has achieved 37 assists in 33 games, while only three players have picked up more points in 2022-23.
It is also worth noting that Kucherov has recorded nine assists across the past six games, including trebles against the Seattle Kraken and Columbus Blue Jackets. That’s why I’m backing him to grab another assist against the New York Rangers.
Brady Tkachuk – Under 0.5 Points (+155)
Senators vs. Capitals Predictions
As we head towards the end of 2022, the Washington Capitals boast the second-longest winning streak in the league. Having won each of their past five encounters, the Capitals will fancy their chances of dispatching the Ottawa Senators on Thursday.
On the flip side, the Senators sit second from bottom in the Atlantic Division. Brady Tkachuk is Ottawa’s points leader, but the 23-year-old has fired two blanks in the past three games. With that in mind, I can see Tkachuk firing another blank against in-form Washington.
