Just over a month into the 2021-22 NHL season and already there are some surprises. Edmonton leads the Pacific Division with a 10-2 record and right behind them are the Anaheim Ducks (8-4-3) who have just one loss in their last ten games.
On Saturday, 26 of the league’s 32 teams will be in action. That means there will be plenty of betting value available. Here are the top five NHL picks for Saturday, November 13, 2021.
Los Angeles Kings vs. Winnipeg Jets
Best Bet: JETS -167
The Kings have won seven straight. Their last loss? That was on Oct. 28 and it was the same Winnipeg team the Kings play on Saturday. The Jets won that game 3-2.
The Jets are 5-1-1 at home and they are 7-3 in their last ten games. They have also ruled the series with the Kings lately going 11-4 straight up in the last 15 games played at home against LA. Back the Jets.
Pittsburgh Penguins vs. Ottawa Senators
Best Bet: UNDER 5.5
The Penguins haven’t lost on the road (1-0-2) yet this year, but they are playing shorthanded without Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin.
Ottawa has lost its last seven straight and shows little sign of improving. One thing is certain though. The Senators are not a big scoring team and the Penguins will keep this one close.
Four of the last six Pens games have seen the total go Under. In Pittsburgh’s last seven games, only twice has there been a total of more than 6. It’s a similar situation for Ottawa. In the Senators last seven games, the total has exceeded 6 just twice.

Montreal Canadiens vs. Detroit Red Wings
Best Bet: RED WINGS -121
The Canadiens played for a Stanley Cup last year. Now, they are just 4-10-1 in the new season. They travel to Detroit Saturday to face a Red Wings team that has a winning record after 15 games.
Detroit plays much better at home than on the road. The Wings won three straight – Edmonton, Vegas, and Buffalo – before losing to Washington 2-0 on Thursday night.
This is a young team that has shown it can beat anybody on a given night. Saturday, that just happens to be the Canadiens.
St. Louis Blues vs. Carolina Hurricanes
Best Bet: OVER 5.5
Both the Blues and the Hurricanes are on fire to start the new season. Carolina is 10-1 and St. Louis is 8- 2-2 so far. Both teams lead their respective divisions.
Both teams are also among the leading scoring teams in the league. Carolina is third averaging 3.73 goals per game and St. Louis is fourth at 3.58. The Hurricanes also play excellent defense. In their last ten games, Carolina has given up three or more goals just three times.
Even so, this is a game where two teams that take a lot of shots are simply going to score. St. Louis has the second-best (35%) power play in the league too. A total of 5.5 is just too low in this game.
NY Rangers vs. Columbus Blue Jackets
Rangers vs. Blue Jackets Picks
Best Bet: BLUE JACKETS -103
The Blue Jackets are off to a good start in the new season. Columbus is 7-3 so far. The Rangers are 7-3-3 thus far despite being outscored by four goals.
Columbus will be at a disadvantage having played on Friday night, but that game is also at home. The Blue Jackets will want to avenge an earlier 4-0 loss to the Rangers. The Jackets have won three straight, including two straight wins over Colorado.
Despite the back-to-back, you have to like the home underdog here.
