Top Five NHL Picks for Saturday, November 6th 2021

After roughly ten games in the NHL’s new season, there are actually two teams that remain unbeaten- Florida and Carolina. The Panthers (19) and Hurricanes (18) have the highest point totals thus far this season.

Who can catch them? More importantly, where can bettors find value in a Saturday schedule that includes 24 teams in action? Here are the top five NHL picks for Saturday, November 6, 2021.

Boston Bruins vs. Toronto Maple Leafs

Bruins vs. Maple Leafs Picks

Best Bet: BRUINS +110

Both the Bruins and Maple Leafs are playing great defense. Both teams trend Under with four of Boston’s last six games totals going Under and four of five for Toronto.

Still, with a total of 5.5 goals on Saturday night, taking the Under doesn’t feel right. What does feel right is a value play on the Bruins.

Toronto has won four straight but lacks offensive firepower which is surprising given their lineup. Boston has won its last two in a row and has the much better power play. Back the Bruins to win on the road.

NHL Odds

Vegas Golden Knights vs. Montreal Canadiens

Golden Knights vs. Canadiens Picks

Best Bet: OVER 5.5

Less than a year ago, the Canadiens were playing for a Stanley Cup. After 12 games of the new NHL season, Montreal is just 3-9 and is one of the worst teams in the Eastern Conference.

The Canadiens have two wins over Detroit and one against San Jose. Vegas (5-5) is off to a slow start and the Knights are giving up over three goals per game.

Neither offense is very good, but Vegas is beginning to turn a corner. They have won four of their last five games and scored 16 goals in those wins. Montreal has only been shut out once and has scored at least two goals in each of its last five games.

With the total at 5.5, play the Over which has hit in five of the Canadiens last seven games.

Minnesota Wild vs. Pittsburgh Penguins

Wild vs. Penguins Picks

Best Bet: WILD +100

This is an interesting matchup. The Wild have won eight of their last 12 games. The Penguins have lost eight of their last 12. The two teams don’t play that often, but the scores of the last two have been 7-3 and 7-4 both in favor of Pittsburgh.

The Pens best players – Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin – remain out of the lineup and Kris Letang has only played in five games. Bryan Rust is likely out as well. Still, the Pens managed a 3-2 win over Philadelphia on Thursday.

Pittsburgh is favored at home, but the value here is on Minnesota at +100 against a depleted Pens lineup.

NHL Picks

New York Islanders Islanders vs. Winnipeg Jets

Islanders vs. Jets Picks

Best Bet: UNDER 6

The key to this matchup on Saturday could be the status of Jets goalie Connor Hellebuyck. He is out of the Jets game on Friday night against Chicago. Reports indicate it’s an illness not an injury.

The Islanders are one of the better defensive teams in the NHL allowing 2.88 goals per game so far. Of their eight games this season, the Under has hit in five and six of the Islanders games have had a total of six or fewer goals.

With the total at 6 on Saturday, expect a defensive battle. The last two games in the series have both gone Under with scores of 3-1 and 4-1.

New York Rangers vs. Calgary Flames

Rangers vs. Flames Picks

Best Bet: UNDER 5.5

The Rangers might be the best defensive team in hockey. They don’t take many shots (27) on offense either. Through ten games, the Under is 8-1-1 so far. The highest total in a Rangers game this season has been six goals, which has only happened twice. Every other game has had fewer than six goals.

One of those games that hit six was on Oct. 25 against this same Calgary team. The Flames won 5-1. Expect similar results tonight which means a low total.
