The NBA season is in full swing. At this point, we have figured out which players can take over a game. This is important for prop betting because you never want to wager a bad player. In the NBA, props are great because it’s a star-driven league.
This gives us a ton of lucrative betting opportunities. Here are my top NBA player props for Friday, January 14th.
Joel Embiid Over 27.5 Points (-165)
Joel Embiid has been on an absolute terror as of late. He has been a big reason Philadelphia has moved past the Ben Simmons drama. Embiid has seven straight games with 30+ points. It’s hard to continue replicating success, but you have to bet the hot hand.
The Celtics play tough defense when they show up. However, are they going to dominate tonight? I think the best team in this matchup is the Sixers. If Embiid has another 30+ game, he will pass Allen Iverson and Wilt Chamberlain in this metric.
Darius Garland Over 3.5 Rebounds (-110)
Darius Garland is coming off his first career triple-double. When a young player has success, it tends to carry into the next night. After a triple-double, the oddsmakers still do not think he is legitimate.
This is great for us from a betting perspective. The Cavaliers will take on the Spurs tonight. San Antonio is very bad in the paint, and this should show. I love Garland going over this total, especially with the Spurs ranking 26th in boards per game.
De’Aaron Fox Over 22.5 Points (-105)
The Sacramento Kings are coming off a huge win over the Los Angeles Lakers. I do not think Los Angeles is good, but it’s a big win for the struggling Kings. Great players are able to take over basketball games.
This is exactly what De’Aaron Fox did against LeBron and the Lake Show. Fox had 29 points against Los Angeles, which is impressive. The Lakers like to slow down the pace, but Fox had his way.
Tonight, the Kings will host the Rockets. Houston has struggled in the paint. This plays to the strength of Fox, who loves to work for his points.
Robert Williams Over 8.5 Points (-120)
The Celtics are going to have to play big tonight to battle the Sixers. Embiid has controlled the paint for weeks. This means Robert Williams must rise to the occasion. I am not saying Williams is going to win the battle down low.
However, I like Williams to exceed his minimal point total. I expect the Celtics to play bigger tonight, giving Williams more time. In games where Williams is given minutes, he typically goes over the total.
Al Horford Over 5.5 Rebounds (-115)
The narrative for tonight’s Celtics game is going to be a battle. As I said, Williams is going to get a lot of time. This also means Al Horford will receive a lot of time. He needs to be big down low as well.
Horford is known as a big-time player. I see him camping under the boards tonight.
