The NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs are rolling right along and there are four games on the schedule for Thursday night. There are some good matchups set to take place, and a couple of big home favorites need to bounce back after a tough game in the series opener.
Instead of betting on each game of the Stanley Cup Playoffs, looking at player prop betting options is a great way to go as well. Here are five of the top NHL player prop bets for games on Thursday, May 5.
Artemi Panarin Over 0.5 Assists (-132)
The New York Rangers are trailing their series with the Pittsburgh Penguins 1-0, and they need to pick up a win on home ice on Thursday. With that in mind, you should look at the best player for the Rangers to help lead the way.
Artemi Panarin had 96 points during the regular season to lead New York, and this team really struggles to score when he isn’t playing well. Of course the Pittsburgh Penguins will be doing all they can to slow him down, but Panarin should break through with an assist in this game.
Jonathan Huberdeau Over 1.5 Points (+150)
The Florida Panthers were upset in the series opener against the Washington Capitals. They will be looking to bounce back in a big way. Florida needs Jonathan Huberdeau to set the tone on Thursday. He racked up 115 points during the regular season.
Betting on anyone to score at least two points is always a bit risky. However, Huberdeau is going to be the person that gets it down. Florida is going to have a big night on offense in this game and their leader will carry the offense.
T.J. Oshie Over 0.5 Points (+110)
T.J. Oshie continues to be one of the most underrated players in the NHL. All this man does is score goals in the playoffs. Oshie had a big goal on Tuesday night in the upset win over Florida. He will be a factor in this game as well.
Washington scored four goals in that win, and they should have another big night on offense. The Panthers are not a great defensive team, and that will allow the Capitals to do some scoring.
Oshie will contribute and these odds are simply too good to pass up.
Nathan MacKinnon Over 1.5 Points (+150)
The Colorado Avalanche scored seven goals in the series opener against the Nashville Predators, and this offense just continues to overwhelm opponents. Colorado has so many weapons on offense, but MacKinnon is clearly the best offensive player.
The Avalanche will have little trouble pouring in the goals again on Thursday. MacKinnon will have a big night on offense. Take the over 1.5 points at +150 for a big win in this game.
Joe Pavelski Under 0.5 Points (+106)
Joe Pavelski and the Dallas Stars suffered a 1-0 loss to the Calgary Flames on Tuesday night. During that game, they couldn’t generate much offense at all. Dallas should have better luck in this matchup, but they are still going to have a low-scoring night.
Pavelski is the best offensive player for Dallas. But it’s hard to predict that he is going to score at any point. Someone from the Stars will break through eventually. But this is a great opportunity to bet the under on points and take a bet with good value (+106).
